Andaz London Liverpool Street, By Hyatt
First Impressions
Walking into Andaz London Liverpool Street, By Hyatt feels like stepping into something completely different from your typical London hotel experience. This five-star property sits right in the heart of the City — and I mean right in it, practically next door to Liverpool Street Station. The lobby honestly caught me off guard with its bold, contemporary design that somehow manages to feel both luxurious and relaxed at the same time.
Location & Getting Around
You know what’s brilliant about this spot? You’re literally steps from one of London’s busiest transport hubs, which sounds chaotic but actually works perfectly. The Crossrail Elizabeth line, multiple Underground connections, and countless buses are right there — I’ve never had such easy access to everywhere in the city. Plus, you’re walking distance to Spitalfields Market (about 5 minutes), and the trendy Shoreditch scene is just across the road. The financial district surrounds you, so there are tons of upscale dining options within a few blocks.
The Room Experience
My room was on the 8th floor, and the floor-to-ceiling windows gave me this amazing view over the city’s mix of historic and modern architecture. The design feels distinctly un-hotel-like — more like a stylish London flat with deep jewel tones and contemporary artwork. The bathroom was particularly impressive, with a massive rainfall shower that actually had proper water pressure (you’d be surprised how rare that is in some London hotels). Everything felt thoughtfully curated rather than just generically luxurious.
Dining & Social Spaces
The 1901 Wine Lounge became my evening hangout — it’s tucked away on the mezzanine level and has this cozy, sophisticated vibe that locals seem to have discovered too. The restaurant downstairs serves modern British cuisine, and while it’s pricey, the quality genuinely justifies it. I particularly loved how they’ve transformed what used to be part of the old Great Eastern Hotel into these contemporary spaces while keeping some of the Victorian architectural details.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it doesn’t try to be everything to everyone — it knows exactly what it is. The service strikes that perfect balance where staff are attentive without being hovering, and there’s this underlying energy from being in such a dynamic part of the city. You’re not tucked away in some quiet corner of London; you’re right where things are happening, whether that’s catching an early train to Paris or exploring the Sunday markets in Spitalfields. It’s the kind of hotel that makes you feel connected to London rather than insulated from it.
