Tower Suites by Blue Orchid
First Impressions
Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first arrived at Tower Suites by Blue Orchid — the entrance on Minories is understated in that particularly British way. But step inside and you immediately understand this isn’t your typical hotel. This five-star property feels more like an exclusive residential building, which makes sense given it’s entirely suites. The lobby has this quietly sophisticated atmosphere, all marble and muted tones, without any of the stuffy pretension you sometimes get in luxury London hotels.
Location & Neighborhood
The location is actually brilliant if you know London well. You’re right in the City, which means it’s dead quiet on weekends but buzzing during the week. The Tower of London is literally a three-minute walk — I mean, you can see the medieval walls from some windows. What I love is how you can walk to Borough Market in about fifteen minutes, or catch the Tube at Tower Hill and be in Covent Garden in no time. The financial district location might sound dull, but there’s something quite special about having this historic part of London almost to yourself in the evenings.
The Suites
Every room here is actually a suite, which becomes apparent the moment you walk in. Mine had a proper sitting area with floor-to-ceiling windows, a separate bedroom, and — this was the real treat — a full kitchen with everything you’d actually need. The design strikes this perfect balance between contemporary luxury and classic British elegance. You know what really impressed me? The marble bathrooms are genuinely spacious, not just London-spacious, with rainfall showers that actually have proper water pressure.
Dining & Amenities
The on-site restaurant serves modern European cuisine that’s surprisingly good — not just hotel-good, actually good. I had dinner there twice and both meals were excellent, though the wine list is predictably expensive. The fitness center is well-equipped but compact, and there’s a small spa that’s perfect for unwinding after walking around the city all day. What struck me most was the service — attentive without being intrusive, and the staff genuinely seemed to know the neighborhood well enough to give proper recommendations.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it gives you the luxury hotel experience while feeling like you have your own London apartment. The suite setup means you can actually live a bit rather than just sleep somewhere between sightseeing. Business travelers clearly love it — the meeting rooms are sleek and the business center is properly equipped — but it’s equally good for leisure stays. The parking is available but honestly unnecessary given the location. I’d come back here, and that’s saying something considering London’s hotel prices. It’s expensive, yes, but you’re paying for space, location, and a level of service that feels authentically luxurious rather than flashy.
Apartments in London suit families with bright bay windows, full kitchens, and sunset loops through Hyde Park paths.
