Westminster Classic Massionette
First Impressions
Walking up to Westminster Classic Massionette on Arneway Street, you immediately notice this isn’t your typical London hotel. It’s tucked into a quiet residential street that feels surprisingly peaceful considering you’re literally in the heart of Westminster. The building has this elegant Georgian facade that blends perfectly with the neighborhood — honestly, I almost walked past it the first time because it looks more like an upscale townhouse than a four-star hotel.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Here’s what I love about this location — you’re about a seven-minute walk from Westminster Bridge and Big Ben, but you’re staying on this lovely tree-lined street where locals actually live. There’s a proper English pub called The Two Chairmen just around the corner that serves decent fish and chips, and you know what? You won’t find many tourists there. The area feels authentic in a way that’s getting harder to find in central London.
Inside Your Space
The room I stayed in was what they call a classic maisonette — basically a split-level setup that gives you way more space than you’d expect. Downstairs you’ve got a sitting area with a small kitchen (perfect for making morning coffee), and upstairs there’s the bedroom with surprisingly good blackout curtains. The décor walks that fine line between traditional English charm and modern comfort — think William Morris wallpaper but with a proper rainfall shower.
Daily Rhythms
Mornings here are particularly nice because they bring fresh pastries and newspapers right to your door — no crowded breakfast room to navigate when you’re still half asleep. I mean, there’s also a small restaurant area if you prefer the full English breakfast experience, but honestly, having coffee in your own sitting area while planning the day felt more civilized. The staff seems to understand that sometimes you want hotel service without feeling like you’re in a hotel, if that makes sense.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it solves the London accommodation puzzle — you get the space of an apartment with hotel amenities, in a location that’s both central and genuinely pleasant to walk around. The 8.9 rating makes sense when you experience it; it’s not trying to be flashy or impress you with marble lobbies, but everything just works well. Plus, there’s something satisfying about staying somewhere that feels like a well-kept local secret, even though you’re minutes from Parliament.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
