Overview
First Impressions
The Wimbledon Hotel sits on a quiet stretch of Worple Road, and honestly, it’s one of those places that grows on you. This four-star property doesn’t try to wow you with flashy lobbies or over-the-top design — instead, it feels refreshingly straightforward. The building itself has that solid, dependable London hotel vibe that locals actually appreciate.
The Wimbledon Connection
You know what’s brilliant about staying here? You’re genuinely close to the All England Club without being stuck in the tourist chaos of London proper. During Wimbledon season, this place buzzes with tennis fans, but the rest of the year it’s pleasantly calm. The staff actually know their way around the area — they’ll tell you the best route to the courts and which pubs the locals favor over the overpriced spots near the station.
Room Reality Check
The rooms are… well, they’re honest. My room was clean and comfortable, though don’t expect designer touches or Instagram-worthy views. What I appreciated was the decent size (rare for London) and the fact that everything worked properly. The beds are surprisingly good, and the bathrooms, while not spacious, have strong water pressure — something you learn to value after a few London hotel stays.
Getting Around
Wimbledon station is about a ten-minute walk, which connects you to central London pretty efficiently via the District line. But here’s the thing — this area has its own character that’s worth exploring. There’s a decent restaurant scene along the High Street, and Wimbledon Common is perfect for morning runs if that’s your thing. The hotel staff mentioned secure parking is available, which is actually a big deal around here.
Why Guests Appreciate It
Look, The Wimbledon Hotel isn’t trying to be the Ritz, and that’s exactly why it works for certain travelers. It’s the kind of place where business guests stay when they’re working in South London, or where tennis enthusiasts book months ahead for the tournament. The 6.6 rating reflects what it is — a solid, no-nonsense hotel that delivers on the basics without charging premium prices for unnecessary frills. If you want reliable accommodation in a genuinely local part of London, this place makes sense.

"A nice comfortable hotel if you like the sound of trains when you’re trying to sleep"
Great location. Clean, comfy bed
What could be improved: Every time a train passed I was awoken and my bed vibrated. It was clearly located near a train line.

"It was okay, as we were only there for 1 night"
Room was clean and warm
What could be improved: We could have been met in person, instead of only speaking to someone on the phone. The shower in the bath room did not work, only cold water. The water was very hot for the bath.

"Very good"
The bed was great - nice and firm but not hard.
Large room with good facilities.
15 mins walk into the town centre/train station
What could be improved: Having a room at the front meant there was quite a lot of noise from the busy road. But a room at the back would alleviate that anyway. And earplugs did the job.

"All-in-all Good Value"
Good value for money during the Wimbledon Championships.
What could be improved: Perhaps in need of a few decor updates, rearranging of refreshments area, electrical point access. We'd have preferred to have a way of darkening the room more with curtains or black-out blinds
