Overview
First Impressions
The One Tun Pub & Rooms caught me off guard in the best possible way. I mean, you’re walking down Saffron Hill in London — this tucked-away street in Camden that most tourists never find — and suddenly there’s this gorgeous Victorian pub that looks like it stepped out of a Dickens novel. The building itself has this warm, honey-colored brick facade that practically glows in the afternoon light, and honestly, I almost walked past thinking it was just another historic pub.
The Pub Atmosphere
What makes this four-star place special is how they’ve managed to keep the soul of a proper London pub while creating something that feels genuinely upscale. The ground floor restaurant area buzzes with a mix of locals grabbing pints after work and visitors who’ve discovered this little gem. The original Victorian features — think exposed brick walls, dark wood beams, and those beautiful etched glass windows — create this cozy atmosphere that you just can’t fake in newer hotels.
The Rooms
Upstairs is where things get really interesting. My room was this perfect blend of contemporary comfort and period charm — they’ve kept the character without making you feel like you’re sleeping in a museum. The beds are seriously comfortable (I’m talking sink-right-in quality), and the bathrooms are surprisingly spacious for a converted pub building. You know what I loved? The windows actually open properly, which sounds silly but it’s such a nice change from those sealed hotel windows you usually get.
Location Perks
Here’s the thing about Saffron Hill — it’s one of those London streets that locals know but tourists often miss. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Hatton Garden (where all the jewelry shops are) and maybe ten minutes from the British Museum if you cut through the back streets. The area feels properly London without being touristy, and there’s something quite nice about staying somewhere that feels like a neighborhood discovery rather than an obvious hotel choice.
Why Guests Love It
The staff actually seem to enjoy working here, which makes such a difference to the whole experience. They know their local area inside out — I got some brilliant restaurant recommendations that I never would have found otherwise. Plus, there’s something deeply satisfying about having a proper pint downstairs before heading up to your room. It’s that authentic London pub experience, but with the comfort level cranked up significantly. The place manages to feel both historic and contemporary, which honestly isn’t easy to pull off.
Exploring London blends royal heritage, UNESCO landmarks, and vibrant neighborhoods glowing with golden-hour light.

"Lovely room, warm hospitality, and great location"
Beautiful room with comfy bed and all the thoughtful amenities - bottled water in the fridge, tea & coffee service complete with biscuits. We were in the room closest to the pub but you could barely hear it while they were open, and they closed around 9:30p so it was dead quiet after. Very clean and close to the Farringdon tube station, so it was easy to get out to Heathrow and onto the Thameslink train. Pub staff were super friendly and didn't mind that we took pints to go up to our room. Great hospitality - would happily stay here again!

"Great location near Hatton Garden with amazing service."
The staff went above and beyond to make us welcome throughout our stay, including making sure we had a table for dinner despite it being extremely busy. The rooms were tastefully decorated and well appointed with everything we needed. We loved the quirky dog pictures all around the pub. The Asian inspired food in the pub in the evening was delicious. We had a great nights sleep as although the pub was very busy, the noise stopped promptly at 11pm and the area was actually very quiet overnight.

"Very charming stay in easily accessible location in London"
The room was a great size and well laid out. Very clean, plenty of storage and surfaces to lay things out. The location was right by a major tube hub, so easily accessible from any direction; and walking distance to most items on our list.
What could be improved: The steps were steep, but the listing is very transparent about it.
Also, just as an FYI, pub closes a little earlier than listed on Google Maps. We arrive back at 10:15 pm on a Saturday hoping for a nightcap, but the bartender had already left for the evening and the barback was only allowed to serve us bottled beer. Certainly nothing against the barback or establishment, just something to keep in mind for a future visit.

"Very cozy pub stay with all the little details thought of."
Attention to the little details. Rooms were above a renovated pub which was also really done well. And the food was amazing. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Rooms were also quiet with good windows which was appreciative being above the pub. Very clean, spacious rooms. Coffee/tea/water and snacks provided in rooms. Cozy beds and sitting area. Large bathroom.
What could be improved: You could hear the television in the room above and unfortunately that guest had it on late into the night. Otherwise we loved the place and would definitely stay again.

"Great location, great spacious, comfy and clean room"
Large spacious room in great central location only a short walk from Farringdon train station. Clean and comfy room with large bath room including a bath which I always look out for.
What could be improved: Stairs a little steep when carrying bags up. Would have been a problem if mobility was an issue.

"Excellent for a trip to Wembley"
Location is brilliant for what we needed (Oasis at Wembley) so really easy to/from the stadium. Lovely staff on check-in and housekeeping when we bumped into her on check-out. We were even given a complementary drink in the pub too. Room was clean and of a high standard considering it is a pub room.
What could be improved: It isn’t really a negative for us, but the stairs leading up to the rooms are very steep and if you’re on the top floor, there are a lot of them, but it is an old building. The lovely lady who checked us in also offered to help us with our bags, which wasn’t necessary, but a nice offer.

"Beautiful pub hotel with the best staff"
Beautifully decorated room in a classic well kept pub. Very comfortable bed. And best of all amazing staff! The service here was friendly and very helpful. We had a lot of luggage that they helped store for us as our flight was late that day. Location also very convenient as it's right by the station. Would recommend it to anyone.
What could be improved: Just beware for people who aren't as physically abled that some of the rooms have a lot of stairs. I personally didn't mind but just something to be mindful of, perhaps request a room lower down if you don't do stairs.

"Exceptional"
Omg, The One Ton Pub and Rooms you guys are phenomenal. Rooms 100%, Staff 100%, Location 100%. 10 out of 10 if you have a chance to stay here, do it. The pub downstairs makes it so convenient to get a start on hitting the pubs or ending the night and to food was delicious. Loved everything about this place.
