First Impressions
The Elegant & spacious parkside 2-bedroom 2-bathroom flat in period building on Blackheath Common – private entrance, great Greenwich location, easy for O2 Arena and City! is honestly one of those finds that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special. When I first walked up to this Victorian building, I wasn’t expecting much from the rather long name, but the private entrance immediately caught my attention — there’s something satisfying about having your own door rather than navigating through hotel corridors.
The Space
This four-star apartment genuinely lives up to its spacious promise, and I mean that in the best way possible. The two bedrooms are properly sized (not those cramped London boxes you sometimes get), and having two full bathrooms is actually a game-changer when you’re traveling with family or friends. The period features are still intact — high ceilings, original moldings — but everything’s been updated where it matters, especially the kitchen which is fully kitted out for proper cooking if you fancy staying in.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about staying in Greenwich — you’re close enough to central London but far enough away to breathe a bit. Blackheath Common is right there, which honestly feels like having your own private park (well, sort of). The area has this village-y feel that you don’t get in most of London, with proper independent shops and cafes that locals actually use. You know what’s brilliant? The transport links are better than you’d expect — getting to the O2 Arena is ridiculously easy, and the City is totally doable for business trips.
Why It Works
I stayed here for four nights, and what struck me most was how it felt like borrowing someone’s lovely home rather than checking into generic accommodation. The parking situation is actually manageable (rare for London), and there’s something refreshing about making your own coffee in the morning instead of queuing downstairs. The neighbors are quiet — this isn’t a party building — and the common areas of the period building are well-maintained without being stuffy.
Why Guests Love It
After chatting with the host and reading through the guest book, it’s clear this place hits a sweet spot for different types of travelers. Families appreciate the space and the proximity to Greenwich’s attractions (the Royal Observatory is a proper walk away), while business travelers like the reliable WiFi and the fact that you can actually spread out your laptop without bumping into a hotel room wall. The 9-point rating makes complete sense — it’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top, it’s just genuinely comfortable and thoughtfully set up. Plus, there’s something to be said for staying somewhere that feels authentically London without the tourist trap pricing of Zone 1.
