Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to The Maltings Tower Bridge Apartment on Tower Bridge Road, you immediately get that “this is going to be good” feeling. It’s one of those converted warehouse buildings that London does so well — all red brick and industrial charm, but clearly updated for modern living. The entrance feels more like stepping into a boutique residential building than a typical hotel, which honestly sets the tone perfectly for what’s essentially a high-end serviced apartment experience.
The Space Itself
The room — well, it’s really more of a proper flat — immediately impressed me with its thoughtful layout and that perfect balance of contemporary design with nods to the building’s heritage. You’ve got exposed brick walls paired with sleek modern fixtures, and the kitchen is actually functional enough that you could cook a proper meal if you wanted to. The windows are generous, flooding the space with natural light during the day, and the whole setup feels like you’re staying in a friend’s really nice place rather than a standard hotel room.
Location Magic
Here’s where this place really shines — and I mean, couples are rating the location a perfect 10 for good reason. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Tower Bridge itself, which never gets old no matter how many times you’ve seen it. But what I really love is how you’re positioned perfectly between the South Bank’s cultural attractions and the City’s business district. Borough Market is close enough for weekend browsing, and you can easily walk to London Bridge station when you need to get anywhere else in the city.
The Southwark Advantage
What struck me about staying in Southwark is how it feels authentically London without being touristy. You’ve got proper pubs within walking distance — not the sanitized versions you find in Zone 1 — and the neighborhood has this lived-in quality that makes you feel like a temporary local. The restaurant scene around here is fantastic too, from casual spots along the river to some genuinely excellent gastropubs tucked away on side streets. Plus, there’s something quite satisfying about having such easy access to central London while staying somewhere that feels like a real neighborhood.
Why Guests Love It
This four-star property consistently earns those high ratings because it delivers on the promise of independence without sacrificing comfort or service. You get the space and freedom of having your own place, but with the reliability and standards you’d expect from a quality hotel. The building itself is well-maintained, there’s parking available if you’re driving, and the whole experience feels effortless in that way that makes you want to extend your stay. It’s particularly brilliant for couples who want to experience London like locals while still having all the conveniences sorted — which explains why so many guests specifically praise the location for romantic getaways.

"Superb, thoroughly recommended!"
Superb!
We had a lovely weekend, we had everything we needed, and more, it felt like home from home and the view of The Shard, City of London and in the distance, The London Eye was truly awesome, we found ourselves going to look out the window every time we came back to the apartment, first thing in the morning, and last thing at night. The host was great, comms was spot on and she even met us on arrival and gave us a few useful tips about the area.
The location was perfect, 5 minutes from Tower Bridge, Tower of London, HMS Belfast, bars, restaurants and the lovely quaint Bermondsey Street, with great cafes, restaurants by day and bustling bars by night.
It’s safe to say we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back for sure. Thank you!
What could be improved: Having to leave and go back to work on Monday! Lol

"Little London Gem"
Communication with the host, Kate, was second to none. The apartment was bright, clean, and comfortable. The location was amazing, with so many lovely local places and easy access to London Bridge Station. For people who need to self cater, the variety of utensils was amazing - best we've ever encountered. There are only things to love about this accommodation. It's on our return list for our next visit to London.

"If you’re going to London, this is the perfect place to stay"
The apartment was great - it had everything we needed, and it is in the perfect location! The welcome package made our stay even better, as it was so appreciated to have a little gift for breakfast - Hot Cross Buns in particular - after a massive flight (one less thing for us to have to think about).

"Gorgeous contemporary flat with cozy touches and easy access to Southbank"
This is a lovely contemporary flat in a very unique building. I chose it for its proximity to Bridge Theatre (around a 10 minute walk.) It is also easily walkable to London Bridge Tube station (around 15 minutes for Northern and Jubilee lines). The flat is fully stocked with loads of towels, dishes, and even food from recent guests as well as a welcome basket full of snacks from the hosts (and fresh milk which I appreciated). It has an amazing view and extremely comfortable bed. The hosts were responsive to my messages when I arrived (it was very cold and the thermostat instructions weren't working.) They also provide a binder full of helpful information about the flat (including manuals for the appliances) and neighborhood. It is very thoughtfully decorated and has lots of blankets and pillows to give it a cozy feel.
What could be improved: There is construction going on in the building so at first I wasn't sure I was in the right place because there were orange cones around the entrance gates and it seemed like a place that was not yet open. The construction also happens early and on one morning began right outside the bedroom window. This is no fault of the hosts but something to be aware of because at least during the AM/daytime it can get loud. And for solo travelers (particularly women) it can feel quite desolate. There are apparently tenants in other parts of the building but in three days I only ever saw one. The host info states there is security patrolling at night and the gates do require a code in the evening hours. I faced no problems, but just a FYI if that is an issue for you.
