Collingham Road – 1 Bedroom Apartment III
First Impressions
Collingham Road – 1 Bedroom Apartment III sits right in the heart of South Kensington, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. This four-star apartment gives you that proper London residential feel — you’re living on an actual London street, not stuck in some touristy hotel corridor. The building itself has that classic Victorian charm you see all over this part of London, which I actually prefer to those modern glass boxes.
The Space Itself
The room setup works really well for what it is. You’ve got a proper bedroom that’s separate from the living area, which makes such a difference when you’re staying for more than a couple nights. The kitchenette is small but functional — I mean, you’re not going to cook Sunday roast, but it handles breakfast and simple meals just fine. What struck me most was how quiet it gets at night, considering you’re right in central London.
Location and Getting Around
This is where the place really shines, you know. You’re a five-minute walk to Gloucester Road tube station, which puts you on the District, Circle, and Piccadilly lines. South Kensington station is maybe eight minutes if you’re dawdling — and that gives you the Natural History Museum practically on your doorstep. The whole museum quarter is right there, plus you can walk to Hyde Park in about ten minutes when you need some green space.
The Neighborhood Feel
Collingham Road itself is one of those lovely residential streets that feels authentically London without being stuffy. There’s a decent corner shop nearby for basics, and honestly, the whole area has this lived-in quality that some of the posher parts of Kensington lack. You’ll see actual Londoners going about their business, not just tourists with cameras. The street parking situation is typical London chaos, but that’s hardly the apartment’s fault.
Why Guests Love It
What really works here is the balance — you get the independence of having your own space with a kitchen, but you’re still in prime central London. I’ve stayed in plenty of cramped hotel rooms for twice the price in less interesting neighborhoods. The apartment feels more like borrowing a friend’s place than staying in accommodation, which some people absolutely love. Plus, when you tell people you’re staying on Collingham Road in South Ken, it sounds properly London, doesn’t it?
