Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Meliá London Kensington Member of Meliá Collection on Gloucester Road, you immediately get that feeling you’re somewhere solid. The building has this classic London facade that doesn’t try too hard — it’s elegant without being flashy, which honestly sets the tone for the whole experience. The lobby strikes that perfect balance between contemporary design and British charm, and you can tell right away this is a four-star property that knows what it’s doing.

Location & Getting Around

You know what I love about this spot? You’re literally a three-minute walk from Gloucester Road tube station, which means you’ve got the District, Circle, and Piccadilly lines right there. South Kensington — with all those world-famous museums — is just one stop away, and you can actually walk there in about ten minutes if the weather’s decent. The neighborhood itself has that residential Kensington vibe, with plenty of cafes and pubs scattered along the street, so you’re not stuck in some touristy bubble.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was what I’d call thoughtfully designed — not huge by any means (this is London, after all), but everything had its place. The bed was genuinely comfortable, and I appreciated the decent-sized desk if you need to get some work done. The bathroom was modern and well-lit, with a proper shower that actually had good water pressure — you’d be surprised how often that’s an issue in London hotels.

Dining & Services

The hotel’s restaurant serves up a mix of Mediterranean and British dishes, and while I wouldn’t call it destination dining, the food is solid and the portions are reasonable. Breakfast has good variety — proper English options alongside lighter continental choices. The staff throughout the hotel are genuinely helpful without being overly formal, which I find refreshing. There’s also a fitness center that’s compact but has the essentials if you want to squeeze in a workout.

Why Guests Love It

Here’s the thing about Meliá London Kensington — it delivers exactly what you hope for without any unpleasant surprises. You’re staying in one of London’s most desirable areas, the transport links are excellent, and the hotel itself feels reliable and well-managed. It’s the kind of place where business travelers feel comfortable, but families don’t feel out of place either. The Spanish hospitality touch (Meliá is a Spanish chain) adds something special to the service style that you notice after a day or two.

"Great location, staff and facilities"
Location is fantastic near tube station and museums. I have stayed in loads of hotels in this area of London over the years and this is good. Staff super helpful and rooms well fitted out.
What could be improved: Steps at front bit of pain with luggage.

"Superb"
I had a room on the third floor overlooking Gloucester Road. The room was hushed due to the double glazing and efficient A/C. On arrival, the staff were helpful and friendly. The room was well-appointed, with a good kettle and coffee machine, robes, and quality soaps in the bathroom. Upon arrival, the bathroom venting fan was not working. When I reported the problem to the staff, they came to repair it immediately.
What could be improved: Nothing

"Will definitely return. Loved it!"
Super friendly staff, I loved the scent diffusers in the rooms and public spaces - a lovely touch. The room was very cute and luxurious with beautiful small touches. I felt very comfortable.
What could be improved: I didn't eat at the hotel so not sure about the food.

"A dash of Spanish luxury in London."
Very friendly staff, beautiful hotel. Nice room, all necessary amenities, and space. Feels very luxurious. It has a wonderful Spanish flair!
What could be improved: There was no food served when I arrived, no possibility to eat or order anything (a Tuesday). The next day, because it was "between shifts", there was no coffee served in the lobby / bar area. No apologies, just the mention of coffee places down the road. The Spanish flair, I guess.

"Excellent location and comfort"
The location is great. The room (120) was really nice for a family with 2 young kids, including a small play area. The staff is very nice.
What could be improved: Breakfast is good but has a limited selection. Some parts of the hotel corridors have an unpleasant smell. The shower has a very short glass and the bathroom floor is completely wet after a regular shower (definitely needs to be improved)
