Overview
First Impressions
When I first stepped into Lovely flat in Brockley, SE4, I’ll be honest — the name doesn’t do it justice. This unique boutique hotel sits on Brockley Road like a well-kept secret, and you know what? That’s exactly what makes it special. The building has that authentic London residential feel that you just can’t fake, with none of the sterile hotel lobby nonsense you’d expect.
The Space Itself
The room — well, it’s more like having your own slice of Southeast London life. There’s a proper kitchen setup that actually works (I made coffee at 6 AM without waking anyone), and honestly, after staying in cramped hotel rooms across the city, having space to spread out felt like a revelation. The decor walks that fine line between homey and stylish without trying too hard.
Brockley Discovered
Here’s what I didn’t expect — Brockley turned out to be this brilliant little pocket of creativity and community. You’re a short walk from Brockley Market on Saturdays, where locals actually shop (not just tourists taking photos). The area has this lived-in authenticity that places like Shoreditch lost years ago. Plus, getting into central London is surprisingly straightforward once you figure out the rail connections.
Local Life
The real charm happens when you venture out for dinner. There’s this lovely Turkish place just down the road that became my regular spot, and a proper pub where you can actually have a conversation without shouting. I mean, you’re not going to find a fancy hotel restaurant here, but that’s precisely the point — you get to eat where people actually live, not where they just visit.
Why Guests Love It
What makes this place work is the complete absence of pretense. You’re not paying for marble lobbies or doormen in ridiculous uniforms — you’re getting something more valuable, which is a genuine taste of London residential life. The host clearly knows the neighborhood and shares those little insider details that make the difference between being a tourist and feeling like a temporary local. It’s perfect for travelers who want to experience London beyond the guidebook recommendations.

"Very good"
Comfortable bed. Plenty of space. Air fryer. Helpful host.
What could be improved: The toaster seemed to trip the electrics.

"Very good"
Location, convenient, cute flat
What could be improved: Found stairs challenging, no iron, no additional toilet paper, fridge was off so leaked and water on flow on arrival.

"Perfect location and with a few additions like providing loo roll a higher rating would be given."
Warm and clean. Good shower and plenty of hot water.
What could be improved: No loo roll at all. Only one pillow case for 2 pillows. No tea towel.

"Good but could have been even better!"
Clean warm with plenty of hanging space and hooks in the bathroom!
What could be improved: Shortly before we arrived the host rang to say there was a maintenance issue and we would be relocated. I replied we had chosen this location as near to family we had come to visit so this wasn't acceptable. Host said he would ring back in an hour which didn't happen. The automatic message with flat number and key code came through so I rang host to be told all was OK. Not impressed with this at all! No proper reason given and no call back as promised which made for an anxious couple of hours!
Only had 1 shower towel for 2 people and no spare loo roll.

"Very comfy but needs a lot of cleaning and outside needs a make over."
The apartment itself was nice and comfy.
What could be improved: I am not sure if the whole house is apart of this company . I think it is all about first impressions. I am not sure if I agree with someone being able to park the motorbike in the outside area and there was a bed and fridge. On entry, the place was dull and and dark. The carpet was horrible and so many markings on the wall. It really needed a make over. In the apartment itself it was comfy but the cleaner is not doing a good job. Behind the couch cushion is food, on the heaters are I think food marks. When you see yellow on the basin of the shower it means people are using it instead of the toilet. On the white area outside of the shower and around the outside of the shower it is very dirty. Lights needed cleaner. Door handles need to be shiny clean. Skirting boards need to be clean. The bathroom mirror needs to be changed. Different bodies are using that place and we do not know anything about that person. We do not know anything about that persons hygiene so the cleaner needs to clean properly using the right products. When someone walks in, if it be possible it should look like a brand new apartment. Also, the TV. I was there trying to get it working and signing up but one should not have to do that. It should be functioning and ITV, BBC and other channels should be easy to get.

"Exceptional"
I've stayed in this apartment and reviewed it before. It's good value and well-equipped. The washing machine has a very quick 15 minute cycle, which is useful. It's close to buses and trains and a couple of decent grocery shops, a pub and a wine bar. The hosts are very helpful and the cleaning staff do a good job. Definitely recommended.
What could be improved: Can't think of anything.
