Holiday Inn London Brentford Lock by IHG
First Impressions
The Holiday Inn London Brentford Lock by IHG sits right where High Street meets Commerce Road, and honestly, the location caught me off guard in the best way. You’re technically in Brentford, but it feels like you’ve found this perfect middle ground between London’s chaos and actual peace. The building itself has that modern four-star polish without trying too hard — clean lines, plenty of glass, and you can actually see the canal from certain angles.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re a quick walk to Brentford station, which gets you into central London in about 30 minutes, but when you come back in the evening, you’re not dealing with tourist crowds or honking traffic. The area around here has this quiet, residential feel with some decent pubs nearby. There’s parking available too, which anyone who’s driven in London will tell you is basically gold.
The Room Experience
My room was on the fourth floor, and I mean, it’s exactly what you’d expect from Holiday Inn — reliable, comfortable, nothing fancy but everything works. The bed was properly firm, the shower had decent pressure, and there were enough outlets for all my devices. The windows are well-insulated, so even though you’re near a main road, it’s surprisingly quiet at night.
Dining and Amenities
The restaurant downstairs serves that familiar international hotel menu — it’s fine, nothing revolutionary, but the breakfast spread actually impressed me with fresh pastries and proper coffee. What really works here is the bar area in the evening; it’s got this relaxed vibe where you can grab a drink without feeling like you’re in a corporate lobby. The fitness center is small but functional, and the Wi-Fi throughout the building is solid.
Why Guests Love It
You know what makes this place work? It’s the balance — you get that reliable Holiday Inn standard (clean, professional, consistent service) but in this quieter part of west London that feels more authentic than staying in Zone 1. The staff here seem to actually know the area and can point you toward local spots that aren’t just tourist traps. Plus, with an 8.1 rating, it’s clear other travelers have figured out what I did — sometimes the best London hotel experience isn’t in the heart of London itself.
