Hilton London Olympia
First Impressions
Walking up to Hilton London Olympia on Kensington High Street, you immediately notice it’s positioned right in the thick of things — which honestly works both for and against it. This four-star property sits in a gorgeous Victorian building that’s been thoroughly modernized, and while it doesn’t scream “boutique charm,” there’s something reassuring about the polished lobby and efficient check-in process.
The Kensington Advantage
Here’s what I love about staying in this part of London — you’re genuinely walking distance from both Olympia Exhibition Centre and some seriously good shopping along the High Street. The Earl’s Court tube station is maybe a seven-minute walk, which means you can actually get to central London without the usual hassle. Plus, there’s this excellent Lebanese place called Maroush just down the street that locals frequent, and honestly, finding good Middle Eastern food that isn’t touristy can be tricky in this area.
The Room Experience
My room was on the sixth floor facing the street — and yes, it can get a bit noisy with the High Street traffic, so pack earplugs if you’re a light sleeper. That said, the space itself was well thought out with a proper work desk (not just some tiny table shoved in a corner) and a bathroom that actually had decent water pressure. The bed was comfortable enough, though I mean, it’s a business hotel so don’t expect Egyptian cotton sheets or anything fancy like that.
Dining and Amenities
The ground-floor restaurant serves what you’d expect from a hotel this size — decent international dishes that won’t blow your mind but definitely won’t disappoint either. I actually preferred grabbing coffee and pastries from the little café they have, which opens early enough for those heading to Olympia for exhibitions or conferences. There’s also a fitness center that’s pretty basic but gets the job done if you need to squeeze in a workout.
Why Guests Love It
What really works here is the combination of location and reliability — you know exactly what you’re getting with the Hilton brand, and when you’re dealing with business travel or trying to catch an early event at Olympia, that consistency matters. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood well and can point you toward the better pubs (The Scarsdale Tavern is worth the short walk) rather than just handing you a generic tourist map. It’s not the most characterful place you’ll ever stay in London, but sometimes you just need a solid base that doesn’t surprise you with broken air conditioning or sketchy WiFi.
