First Impressions
The Framerys sits on a quiet stretch of Fanshaw Street that honestly feels more residential than hotel territory — and that’s exactly what makes it work. Walking up to this four-star boutique spot, you’d almost miss it if you weren’t looking, which I mean, is kind of refreshing in a city where every hotel tries to scream for attention. The building has this understated industrial charm that fits perfectly with Hackney’s whole vibe.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what’s great about staying here? You’re actually in London, not some touristy bubble. Hackney’s got this creative energy that you can feel just walking around — street art everywhere, independent coffee shops that locals actually use, and yeah, it’s got that slightly edgy feel that makes you feel like you’re discovering something. The area’s well-connected though; you can get into central London easily enough, but honestly, there’s plenty to explore right around the corner.
The Room Experience
My room had this perfect balance of industrial design and actual comfort — exposed brick walls but with proper heating, thank god. The beds are seriously good (I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathroom’s compact but well thought out. What I really appreciated was the attention to small details — decent lighting for reading, enough plug sockets where you actually need them, and windows that open properly, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places get that wrong.
Dining & Social Spaces
The ground floor restaurant serves food that’s actually worth eating, not just hotel filler. They do this modern British thing without being pretentious about it, and the staff seem to know their stuff when it comes to wine recommendations. The common areas feel lived-in rather than showroom-perfect — there are these great communal tables where you might end up chatting with other guests, or you can find quieter spots if that’s not your thing.
Why Guests Love It
Look, The Framerys isn’t trying to be the fanciest place in London, and that’s exactly why it works so well. It’s got character without being quirky for the sake of it, comfort without being boring, and a location that gives you a real taste of what London’s actually like beyond the postcard stuff. The service feels genuine rather than scripted, and at the end of the day, that makes all the difference when you’re traveling.
