Overview
First Impressions
Clarence Place sits on a quiet residential street in Edgware, and honestly, you might walk right past it if you’re not paying attention. It’s housed in what looks like a converted Victorian building — the kind of place that makes you wonder about all the stories these walls could tell. The entrance is understated, almost secretive, which actually works in its favor once you step inside.
The Neighborhood Reality
Look, Edgware isn’t central London, but that’s sort of the point. You’re about a 20-minute tube ride from the city center on the Northern Line, which isn’t terrible. The area feels properly residential — there’s a Tesco nearby for essentials, and you’ll find some decent curry houses within walking distance. It’s the kind of neighborhood where locals actually live, not just another tourist corridor.
What Makes It Different
This boutique property doesn’t fit into neat hotel categories, and I mean that in the best way possible. Each room feels like it was designed individually — some have quirky artwork, others feature vintage furniture that actually looks intentional rather than just old. The staff genuinely seems to know guests by name after a day or two, which you don’t get at chain hotels.
The Practical Stuff
The rooms are clean and comfortable, though don’t expect luxury finishes or marble bathrooms. What you do get is character — think original wooden floors and windows that actually open properly. There’s decent WiFi throughout, and parking is available, which is honestly a bigger deal than it sounds in this part of London. The property doesn’t have a full restaurant, but there’s a small dining area where they serve a basic continental breakfast.
Why Guests Keep Coming Back
Here’s the thing about Clarence Place — it works because it doesn’t try too hard. The 2.5-star rating might put some people off, but I think it sets the right expectations. You’re not getting five-star service or amenities, but you are getting a place that feels more like staying at a friend’s well-kept house than a sterile hotel room. The value is solid for what you pay, especially considering London prices, and the personal touch from the staff makes up for any lack of fancy amenities.
Guest reviews
"Disappointing as I thought booking.com had very high standards."
Self contained (breakfast not expected or advertised). Clean white linen, clean bathroom,
What could be improved: spider webs, broken chairs and light fittings, broken cupboard eg bathroom, not enough pillows, stuffy damp smell, having to beg to get the shower fixed

"If you only read one review, read this one."
There were enough beds and was close to Wembley Stadium.
What could be improved: Pictures look nothing like the house - bathroom was mouldy, no baking trays to cook food, no oven gloves or tea towels, one dining room chair was broken, discarded door and shopping basket in the garden. Had to pay a £200 damage deposit which I had to pester the company to be returned. It wouldn't take much to make the house look nice but seems like Jinx Services are not interested as long as people continue to pay.

"Clarence Place issues"
It was easy access for tube. Comfortable beds.
What could be improved: Not what was advertised in photos with only 2 bowls, 1 fork, 1 cup, broken chair, no tea towels, only 3 towels. Damp on wall and not very clean.

"Bad"
What could be improved: And after booking the hotel, the owner of the apartment sent a bank details to my WhatsApp number that I have to pay £200 to deliver the key to us and I paid because we were on the street, after 4 days we came out and delivered everything like the first day and When I requested to return my deposit, at first they said I will return it to your account in 24 hours, but they never returned my money and did not answer.
And also the apartment was really bad condition and location .

"I would not recommend here to anyone"
Nothing it was horrific. Dirty, no cutlery no pots no pans
Dirty bed sheets. Disgusting oven and kettle. Couldn’t have a drink whilst there as only one one cup and that was filthy. Kettle was disgusting
What could be improved: There is to much to say that was wrong with the property. Made a complaint to booking.com and no one has ever got back to me, sent photos to booking.com and no one ever got back to me

"Pleasant"
The location is very nice and peaceful. Place is cozy.
What could be improved: The place is in need of a renovation and a gòod clean up. There were only four chairs, one of which was broken. We were 6 persons, only 5 towels provided...at least we had ours.

"A"
Da simpatia da pessoa que nos foi atender.
What could be improved: Não gostei da localização, pelo facto de no booking ter a informação de que a habitação estava no centro de Londres, quando na verdade não. Convém reverem a localização, porque isso cria muitos transtornos.
