Central London, Penthouse View
First Impressions
Central London, Penthouse View caught me off guard — honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from a apartment rental in Islington, but stepping into this three-star place on the 8th floor of Turnpike House completely changed my perspective. The views hit you immediately, and I mean properly spectacular panoramic shots across London that make you forget you’re staying in what’s essentially a residential building on Goswell Road.
Location & Getting Around
Islington might not be where most tourists think to stay, but that’s actually what makes this spot work so well. You’re a quick walk to Angel tube station, and from there it’s just two stops to King’s Cross — which puts you basically anywhere in London within 20 minutes. The neighborhood itself has this lovely local feel, with proper pubs and coffee shops that aren’t completely overrun with tourists.
The Space
The room itself is more spacious than you’d expect for central London, and that kitchen area is genuinely useful if you want to grab groceries from the Waitrose down the street. What really sells it though are those floor-to-ceiling windows — I spent way too much time just watching the city sprawl out below, especially in the evenings when everything lights up. The furnishing is modern without being sterile, and there’s decent storage space which you definitely appreciate after living out of a suitcase.
Practical Considerations
I’ll be honest, this isn’t a traditional hotel experience — there’s no concierge or daily housekeeping, so you’re pretty much on your own. The building itself is secure but you know, it’s a residential block, so don’t expect any fancy lobby or hotel services. The Wi-Fi works well enough for video calls, and the shower has proper pressure, which honestly is more than I can say for some pricier London hotels I’ve stayed in.
Why Guests Love It
What makes Central London, Penthouse View special isn’t luxury or five-star treatment — it’s that feeling of actually living in London for a few days rather than just visiting. You wake up to those incredible views, make coffee in your own space, and step out into a real London neighborhood. For the price point and that location, it’s hard to argue with the value, especially if you’re the type of traveler who prefers having your own space over hotel amenities.
Locals suggest to book apartments in London around South Bank for riverside dining, market stops, and easy city crossings.
