Overview
First Impressions
When I first stepped into Kings Cross Pad, I’ll be honest — the name had me expecting something a bit more boutique-y. But you know what? This three-star spot in Islington actually surprised me in the best way. The lobby’s got this clean, no-nonsense vibe that immediately tells you they’ve focused their energy on the stuff that actually matters rather than fancy marble floors.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about staying near Kings Cross — you’re basically at the center of London’s transport universe, but without the tourist circus of central zones. The area’s been completely transformed over the past decade, and I mean completely. You’ve got Coal Drops Yard just a short walk away, which honestly feels like discovering a secret neighborhood that locals actually use. The tube connections are ridiculous — I could get to Oxford Circus in about ten minutes, and don’t even get me started on how easy it is to catch the Eurostar if you’re planning any European side trips.
The Room Experience
My room was compact but thoughtfully laid out — clearly designed by someone who understands that travelers need practical storage and decent lighting more than excessive square footage. The bed was properly comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathroom had one of those showers that actually has decent water pressure. What I appreciated most was the attention to details like enough power outlets near the bed and blackout curtains that actually block out the morning light.
Neighborhood Flavors
The food scene around here is genuinely exciting if you know where to look. There’s this little Ethiopian place about five minutes away that locals queue up for, and the weekend farmers market at Chapel Market gives you a real slice of North London life. I ended up grabbing coffee most mornings from a spot the hotel staff recommended — turns out they actually live in the area and know their stuff. You’re also close enough to Camden that you can easily wander over for the evening scene without dealing with the daytime tourist madness.
Why Guests Keep Coming Back
Look, Kings Cross Pad isn’t trying to be something it’s not, and that’s exactly why it works. The staff seem to genuinely care about helping you navigate London rather than just checking boxes, and the parking situation (if you’re driving) is way more manageable than anywhere in central London. For the price point, you’re getting solid comfort in a neighborhood that feels authentically London — not the postcard version, but the version where people actually live and work. It’s the kind of place where you sleep well, start your day without stress, and feel like you’ve discovered something a bit off the beaten path.

"Great location only a short walk from Kings Cross station and close to a supermarket."
Only about 10mins from Kings Cross station and down the road from a good fish and chip place in Islington. Photos of property were accurate. The fan was strong. Laundry detergent was supplied.
What could be improved: The sofa bed was really soft on one side. Only 4 small rolls of toilet paper for 3 people for 6 nights so we had to buy our own. The curtains and windows were also left fully open before we checked in (it was a 30 degree day) so it was really hot until late in the night and doonas were set up during a heatwave.

"Good location but noisy because of traffic"
Description of the accommodation. - Really excellent location: because of St Pancras that is a transport hub.
Cleanliness was perfect.
The equipment is perfect (kitchen utensils, trash bag, paper towel, aluminum foil, napkin, toilet paper, shower gel, shampoo, perfume in the toilet, trash bag)
The information that the host gave about what to know before arrival was very good.
During our stay, she inquired about how we were doing, and that was nice too.
What could be improved: However, those who do not like the noisy street should choose another apartment, because there is a lot of traffic here even at night.
My score is 7 only because of the noise outside.

"Good location but noisy and VERY hot appartment"
Great location, comfortable bed, everything as required in the kitchen
What could be improved: Hotter than the surface of the sun. Weird half-frosted windows in the bathroom. VERY noisy street

"The location is great. Close to the Kings Cross station. We were able to get everywhere easily."
Location was fantastic!
What could be improved: I feel that we should have rented the top apartment. The neighbors were loud. I didn’t get much sleep some nights.

"Good location, not as noisy as we feared following comments of previous guests."
Good location easy to reach for King's Cross/St Pancras, and even Euston.
Shops (Tesco) and restaurants nearby (Rex Cross restaurant excellent).
Good appliances, and possibility to cook simple meals.
Heating and hot water working correctly.
What could be improved: Messages sent by the host are listed in chronological order: so to get the latest information you have to go at the bottom of the list.
We had booked two appartements (which were in the same stairs, this was very convenient), and it was sometimes difficult to identify to which apartment a message was referring too.
The system to validate our identities using photos of the passports was not very user friendly.

"Great location, value & authenticity"
Location to the train station & tube was excellent. Made it easy to plan excursions to different areas of London.
The owner was quick to respond to questions & if assistance was required.
The Flat definitely made it feel like a true London experience.
What could be improved: The carpet could use a good cleaning.
The toilet started leaking, but the owner was actively working on fixing it when we checked out.

"ok for a night, close to KK, but felt a little vulnerable alone."
the location was good, but i hadn't realised the flat was up a narrow steep stair which was difficult with my suitcase.
What could be improved: as above

"Good"
the apartment is located within 5-10 min walk from Kings' Cross. Despite facing a busy street, it is rather quiet at nights. The apartment (apart from what I described below) met my expectations and is roughly as described. The building/apartment are rather old, but clean, and the fridge/tea kettle/coffee machine make the stay convenient.
What could be improved: I was a little bit disappointed with the bathroom: a) a big window facing a street, which makes you feel exposed (with almost transparent curtain); b) in the shower, the water goes from cold through warm to "too hot" and quickly back to cold, which made showering not very pleasant:).
