Bright & beautiful 1 bedroom flat in London Bridge
First Impressions
Bright & beautiful 1 bedroom flat in London Bridge sits on Abbey Street in Southwark, and honestly, the name delivers exactly what it promises. When I first stepped inside this four-star apartment, the natural light streaming through those large windows immediately caught my attention — it’s the kind of brightness that makes you forget you’re in London on a grey day. The space feels modern and thoughtfully put together, with that clean Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic that actually works rather than feeling sterile.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what’s great about staying in Southwark? You’re close enough to central London without dealing with the tourist crowds right outside your door. Abbey Street itself is surprisingly quiet for being so close to everything, and I mean everything — Borough Market is literally a five-minute walk away (perfect for those Saturday morning food runs). The Shard looms overhead, which sounds intimidating but actually creates this interesting urban canyon effect that I found oddly charming.
The Space
The room layout makes smart use of every square foot, which is crucial in London. The bedroom feels separate enough from the living area that you can actually unwind, and the kitchen — while compact — has everything you need if you want to cook with those Borough Market finds. I appreciated the little touches like proper blackout curtains and a dining table that’s actually big enough for two people to eat comfortably. The bathroom’s modern and clean, with decent water pressure (always a concern in older London buildings, but not an issue here).
Getting Around
London Bridge station is about a seven-minute walk, which connects you to pretty much everywhere via the Northern and Jubilee lines. What I really liked though was how walkable this area is — you can stroll across the Thames to the City, or head south to explore more of Southwark’s quieter streets. There’s a Tesco Express around the corner for essentials, and plenty of pubs within stumbling distance (this is London, after all). The area feels safe walking around at night, which isn’t something you can say about every part of central London.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it strikes that balance between being a proper London experience and having your own space to retreat to. You’re not dealing with hotel reception desks or fighting for elevators, but you’re also not stuck in some soulless corporate apartment block. The 8.2 rating makes sense — it’s the kind of place where everything just works without any major surprises, good or bad. For the price point and location, you’d be hard-pressed to find something that gives you this much space and light in such a well-connected part of town.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
