First Impressions
2 Bed – Self Check-In – Free WiFi – Sleeps 6 – Finsbury Park – AFC might have the longest name I’ve ever encountered for accommodation, but honestly, it tells you everything upfront. This four-star apartment sits on Wilberforce Road in Hackney, and the self check-in process actually works seamlessly — you get detailed instructions beforehand, which takes away that awkward waiting-around-for-keys situation. The building itself is a converted Victorian house that’s been thoughtfully updated without losing its character.
The Space
Inside, you’ll find two proper bedrooms that can comfortably sleep six people, though I’d say four adults would be more realistic if everyone wants their own space. The main room flows into a compact but well-equipped kitchen area — there’s a full-size fridge, proper oven, and even a dishwasher, which honestly made our stay so much easier. The whole place feels more like borrowing a friend’s flat rather than staying in typical tourist accommodation, and the WiFi is genuinely fast enough for video calls if you’re working remotely.
Location & Neighborhood
Finsbury Park gets overlooked by many visitors to London, but it’s actually brilliant for getting around the city. The tube station is about an eight-minute walk, and from there you can reach King’s Cross in ten minutes or central London in under twenty. What I really appreciated was the local feel — there’s a proper Turkish bakery around the corner that does incredible börek, and Finsbury Park itself (the actual park) is perfect for morning runs or just escaping the city buzz for a bit.
Practical Perks
The free WiFi isn’t just marketing speak — it actually delivers consistent speeds throughout the apartment. There’s decent parking on the street, though you’ll need to check the resident permit zones during weekday hours. The restaurant scene in this part of Hackney is surprisingly good, with everything from authentic Caribbean spots to trendy brunch places within walking distance. I mean, you’re not in Shoreditch, but you’re close enough to hop over when you want that scene.
Why Guests Love It
What sets this place apart is how it balances that authentic London residential experience with genuine comfort and functionality. You’re staying in a real neighborhood where people actually live, not some sanitized tourist bubble. The Arsenal connection (hence the AFC in the name) means you’re perfectly positioned if you’re catching a match, but even if football isn’t your thing, the transport links make everything accessible. For families or groups wanting space to spread out without paying central London prices, this hits that sweet spot perfectly.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
