Overview
First Impressions
Apartment Shad sits on the upper floor of a Victorian building right on Tooley Street — and honestly, the location caught me off guard in the best way. You’re literally a two-minute walk from London Bridge station, which means you can be anywhere in central London within minutes. The building itself has that classic London charm, though I’ll be upfront — this three-star spot is more about practicality than polish.
The Space
The apartment layout actually works really well for travelers who want more than just a hotel room. You’ve got a proper living area that doesn’t feel cramped, and the kitchen setup is genuinely useful — not just a mini-fridge and kettle situation. I mean, you can actually cook a decent meal here, which is pretty rare in central London without paying through the nose. The furnishings are simple but functional, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase.
Southwark Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about this location — you’re in Southwark, which feels authentically London without the tourist circus. Borough Market is practically around the corner (seriously, go there hungry), and you can walk to Shakespeare’s Globe or Tate Modern in about ten minutes. The area has this great mix of office workers, locals, and the occasional tourist, so it never feels overwhelming. Plus, there are actually decent pubs nearby that don’t charge tourist prices.
Practical Considerations
Let’s talk about what really matters when you’re staying somewhere. The Wi-Fi works consistently — I was able to video call home without issues. The shower has proper water pressure, which you’d be surprised how often that’s a problem in older London buildings. There’s no parking on-site, but honestly, you don’t need a car here anyway. The nearest Tube entrance is closer than most London hotels I’ve stayed at, and night buses run regularly if you’re out late exploring the South Bank.
Why Guests Appreciate It
Look, Apartment Shad isn’t trying to be something it’s not. You won’t find a concierge or fancy lobby, but you will get a clean, functional space in one of London’s most connected neighborhoods. The value proposition is solid — you’re paying reasonable rates to be steps from major transport links and some of the city’s best food markets. It’s perfect for travelers who want to experience London like a temporary local rather than a tourist passing through. The fact that you can grab fresh ingredients from Borough Market and actually cook them here? That’s worth something, especially in a city where eating out constantly can drain your budget fast.

What could be improved: The entrance through the alley and the steep stairs

"Affordable and located at the heart of London Bridge."
Location is in the heart of London Bridge with accessibility to transport, shops and hospital.
What could be improved: Me and my family wasn’t able to sleep properly for 2 days. 1st day there were 2 men who barged inside the apartment midnight claiming they need to fix the electricity. 2nd day there were loud noises ( banging, loud footsteps etc) above the apartment around 11pm to 12:30am. I have informed the owner and also told one of the guys working. But felt no one listened. I had a dental surgery on the 2nd day and I badly need rest. It was soo annoying that I rang the nuisance hotline.
Another thing the stairs to the apartment is too steep. If you are young, not a problem, but if you have MSK issues, fibromyalgia or mobility issues, then don’t bother.

"It was good for a two night stop-over"
It was very close to the London Bridge station which made commuting easy.
What could be improved: The way up to the front door was disgustingly dirty. The beds were not very comfortable and it was extremely noisy throughout the night - sounded like the windows weren’t closed properly.

A FUIR !

"Orribile"
