Troy Hotel
First Impressions
Troy Hotel sits on a classic Victorian terrace in Bayswater, and honestly, you might walk past it if you’re not paying attention — it’s got that understated London charm thing going on. The building itself is one of those beautiful white stucco townhouses that Westminster Borough is famous for, which means you’re getting authentic London architecture without the tourist-trap vibe. Walking up to the entrance, I appreciated how they’ve kept the original character intact while clearly putting effort into maintenance.
Location & Neighborhood
Queensborough Terrace is actually a gem of a location that most visitors don’t know about. You’re a five-minute walk from Hyde Park — and I mean the proper entrance near Speaker’s Corner, not some side gate. London’s Paddington Station is close enough that you can hear the occasional train, but it’s not disruptive, and honestly, it’s kind of comforting knowing you’re so well-connected. The neighborhood has this lovely residential feel with plenty of corner shops and cafés that locals actually use.
The Room Experience
My room was on the second floor — no lift, but that’s pretty standard for these converted Victorian houses. The space felt bigger than I expected, probably because they haven’t tried to cram in unnecessary furniture. The bed was comfortable enough, and there’s decent storage space which you don’t always get in three-star London hotels. The bathroom was compact but functional, with one of those power showers that actually has decent pressure.
Practical Details
The staff here seem to genuinely care about getting things right, which makes a difference when you’re dealing with typical travel hiccups. There’s no on-site restaurant, but that’s honestly fine — you’re surrounded by better food options than most hotel kitchens could produce anyway. They do serve a continental breakfast that’s perfectly adequate, though don’t expect anything fancy. Parking is street-side and metered during the day, so factor that in if you’re driving.
Why Guests Love It
What really works about Troy Hotel is that it delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense. You’re getting clean, comfortable accommodation in a genuinely good part of London, run by people who seem to understand what travelers actually need. The price point feels fair for what you get — especially considering you’re in Zone 2 and can walk to Hyde Park for your morning coffee. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in London rather than just visiting it, if you know what I mean.
