Overview
First Impressions
Walking into The Ned feels like stepping back into 1920s banking luxury — which makes perfect sense since this five-star hotel is actually housed in the former Midland Bank headquarters. The soaring ceilings and original marble columns immediately tell you this isn’t your typical London hotel. I mean, where else can you sleep in a building that once handled the city’s most important financial dealings?
Location & Heart of the City
You’re literally in the pulse of the City of London here — Bank junction is right outside your door, which means you’ve got multiple Tube lines at your fingertips. What’s brilliant about this spot is that you’re walking distance to St. Paul’s Cathedral, yet tucked away enough on Poultry that you don’t get the tourist crowds. The Ned sits in this sweet spot where finance meets history, and honestly, the energy is infectious.
The Room Experience
My room had this interesting blend of art deco glamour and modern luxury that somehow didn’t feel overdone. The marble bathrooms are genuinely stunning — they’ve kept that banking-era grandeur but added heated floors (thank goodness for London winters). You know what impressed me most? The way they’ve maintained the building’s character while making everything feel contemporary and comfortable.
Dining & Social Spaces
Here’s where The Ned really shines — it’s got nine restaurants and bars, each with its own vibe. The main restaurant in the old banking hall is gorgeous, but I actually loved the rooftop space for drinks. There’s also Cecconi’s if you’re craving Italian, and honestly, you could spend days just exploring all the dining options without leaving the building. It’s like a luxury food hall that happens to have hotel rooms upstairs.
Why Guests Love It
What sets The Ned apart is this sense of being part of London’s story rather than just visiting it. The building itself is a piece of history, and they’ve transformed it into something that feels both exclusive and welcoming. The spa downstairs maintains that art deco theme, and there’s even parking available — which, let’s be real, is almost impossible to find in central London. You’re paying for luxury here, but it’s the kind that comes with genuine character and a location that puts you right in the middle of everything that matters.
Guest reviews
"Overall good, but need to consider creating a hotel guest only space."
Very comfortable room and the shower was amazing.
Thought of everything you could possibly need.
What could be improved: No real lounge area for use of residents, the public areas are always packed and you can’t find anywhere to sit and relax other than your room.

"Beautiful hotel, a couple of tweaks would make it 10/10"
Beautiful room, smooth check-in. Shower pressure is incredible and the Cowshed products are all gorgeous. Love all of the little extras that make things more comfortable - hair iron, tampons, loofah etc.
What could be improved: A bit of a rabbit warren and we could find our way downstairs via stairs close to our room but access was blocked back up so had to keep taking different routes! More signage about lifts and access points would be really helpful. Also, the ficed pricing on breakfast (which is 'included') was all a bit confusing and felt a bit tacky for an establishment of this nature, just include breakfast and allow people to choose what they want without worrying about an overage, it's not going to hurt the Ned's pocket if a room orders an extra pastry basket.

Clean and well finished
What could be improved: Staff uppity until they release you are a resident.

"Elegant pleasure in every sense ."
The room was elegantly opulent , wonderfully decorated , quiet and comfortable. The bathroom with all its various balms was like a private sauna. The food , music , cabaret and vault made this a joyful time.

"Perfect"
Most of all the location. There is the Bank tube station directly across the street. It is also a nice walk to the Tower of London, also St. Paul's Cathedral and Millennium Bridge to the Tate Modern.
There is live music every night and Millie's restaurant serves wonderful food and cocktails.
I will definitely be booking the Ned on my next trip to London.
What could be improved: I honestly can't think of anything. Even room service was punctual and delicious. When calling for the service tray to be collected, it was gone in an instant.

What could be improved: Rooms could do with a bit of TLC

"Overall it was splendid"
I love the rooms, always first class and excellent quality.
What could be improved: Nothing really, some staff members ( the doorman in particular were excellent) Some not so good. When I ordered a drink in the lobby/ bar area the service was poor and had attitude, which I don’t appreciate and especially in a hotel of this quality and price band.
