Overview
First Impressions
The W14 Kensington sits on a quiet residential street that honestly feels more like a neighborhood secret than a typical hotel location. The Victorian townhouse facade blends seamlessly with the surrounding homes, which means you might walk past it if you’re not paying attention. Inside, the converted building has this boutique feel that’s refreshingly intimate — you know, the kind of place where the staff actually remembers your name by day two.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s what I love about this spot: you’re in West London but away from the tourist chaos, yet the Kensington Olympia station is literally a three-minute walk away. That connection gets you to central London in about fifteen minutes, which is actually faster than staying in some “central” hotels where you’re fighting crowds just to get to the Tube. The area around Gunterstone Road has this lived-in London vibe — proper pubs, corner shops, and tree-lined streets that feel genuinely residential.
The Room Experience
The rooms at this four-star property are compact but thoughtfully designed, which is exactly what you want in London where space comes at a premium. My room had these lovely period features — high ceilings and original moldings — mixed with modern touches that actually work together. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious for a converted Victorian building, and honestly, the shower pressure was better than some fancy chain hotels I’ve stayed at in the city center.
Amenities & Service
Don’t expect a sprawling lobby or multiple restaurants here — The W14 keeps things simple and does them well. There’s a small restaurant area that serves a solid breakfast (the full English is proper, not some sad hotel interpretation), and the staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay comfortable. The Wi-Fi is reliable, which you know can be hit-or-miss in these older London buildings, and they’ve got decent coffee available throughout the day.
Why Guests Love It
What sets this place apart is that balance between being in London but not feeling overwhelmed by it. You can walk to Kensington High Street for shopping, pop over to Holland Park when you need some green space, or just enjoy the fact that you’re staying somewhere that feels more like a well-appointed guesthouse than a corporate hotel. The 7.9 rating makes sense — it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in London, but it delivers exactly what it promises with genuine warmth and attention to detail.

"A little gem of a hotel in West Kensington."
The hotel was very well presented, from the main entrance through reception and into the room, the corridors were clean and freshly decorated, I was very impressed. The room was lovely, although a little small, was tight getting round the bed but it was very well presented and really clean as was the bathroom. The staff were really friendly, welcoming and helpful, and all smiled and greeted us on our way to/from our room. The breakfast room was outside in the garden and it was a lovely space, bright and cheery and very clean, the breakfast choice was good and very reasonably priced. The hotel staff are working really hard to maintain a high standard and it was a pleasure to stay in this hotel.
What could be improved: There was nothing I didn’t like about the property, it was clean, fresh and welcoming, just what you want, but there were a couple of minor things that could improve the overall experience. A bath mat was not provided in the bathroom which was dangerous because the floor is very slippery when wet and getting out of the shower was challenging, a hand towel was not provided, only 2 (rather small all) bath towels, this I felt let the hotel down. We were in room G11 which is small and tight to get around the bottom of the bed, with the addition of a large TV on the wall it made getting around the bed very difficult, I caught my shoulder on the TV a couple of times.

"Great choice"
Nice room, small but perfectly adequate; helpful staff; good lighting in the room; excellent location for us.
What could be improved: Just needed a couple of hooks for hanging coats. Coat hangers in wardrobe very irritating as they didn’t come off so difficult to get your clothes on.

"Excellent Highly Recommended"
Location, friendliness and Professionalism of staff. Very close walk to 2 stations, 10 mins walks from great restaurants. Thoroughly recommended.
What could be improved: A little bit pricey but that's due to low AUD and exchange rate so everything is expensive

"Comfy room"
The location was perfect for our needs. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was powerful with plenty of hot water.
What could be improved: The building could do with being spruced up. Looked tired and in need of painting. There was no lift, and we had quite a few flights of stairs up to our room, both of us have mobility issues, so that was a bit of a pain.

Proximity to Hammersmith. Could leave luggage before and after checking in/ out.
Contemporary decor. Very clean. Nice sized rooms. Amazing shower. Very friendly staff.
What could be improved: Some small areas of wear and tear / scuffing. Slightly threadbare carpet on edge between bedroom and bathroom. No coat hooks. Room was a bit chilly at night.

"Pleasant stay in London."
It was clean, small but decent space for luggage etc, and lots of bench space in the bathroom. It’s a 5 minute walk to 2 underground stations, and only takes about 20-30 mins to get to central London including the walking. Staff were helpful.
What could be improved: The wifi was quite weak, not good for watching videos or streaming tv/movies.
