Overview
First Impressions
The Stag Enfield sits on a quiet residential street that honestly feels more like a neighborhood secret than a typical hotel location. The Victorian building has this understated charm β not flashy, but there’s something reassuring about the solid brick facade and the way they’ve kept the original character intact. You know what struck me first? How peaceful Little Park Gardens actually is, especially when you consider you’re still well-connected to central London.
Location & Neighborhood
I mean, Enfield might not be on every tourist’s radar, but that’s exactly why this works so well. You’re getting genuine English suburban life without the tourist markup, and the train connections into London are actually pretty solid β about 30 minutes to get into the city center. The surrounding area has those proper local pubs and family-run shops that you don’t really find in Zone 1 anymore. There’s decent parking here too, which anyone who’s tried to drive in London will appreciate.
The Room Experience
The rooms have that comfortable, no-nonsense feel that three-star places do best when they’re not trying too hard. Clean lines, decent space, and β this matters more than you’d think β proper curtains that actually block out the morning light. Each room feels like they’ve put thought into the basics rather than going overboard with unnecessary extras. The beds are genuinely comfortable, and the heating works reliably, which honestly beats half the boutique places I’ve stayed at in central London.
Food & Drink
The on-site restaurant serves solid British fare without any pretentious twists β think well-executed classics rather than Instagram-worthy presentations. What I really appreciated was their approach to breakfast; it’s hearty and gets you properly set up for the day, whether you’re heading into London or exploring the local area. The portions are generous (maybe too generous if you’re not used to proper English breakfasts), and the coffee is surprisingly good for a place that’s not trying to be trendy.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s the thing about The Stag Enfield β it delivers exactly what it promises without any fuss or disappointment. The 4.4 rating makes perfect sense when you experience the straightforward hospitality and realize you’re getting genuine value rather than paying for location hype. It’s the kind of place that works brilliantly if you want a proper base for exploring London without the central London prices, or if you’re visiting family in the area and want somewhere comfortable that feels more like staying with friends than checking into a corporate hotel chain.

"Get what you pay for π"
Proximity to work , decent room clean and the shared bathroom is clean , more because of the nice people that stay there and Iβve stayed 6 nights there in the last 3 weeks working for Enfield Council Legal Services and it kind of works π
What could be improved: Room 26 that Iβve been put in last 3 weeks has a generator makes a racket , there is a pub downstairs but itβs never open other than Wed/Thurs.
The most ridiculous thing is the door system input system on the handle of the door (just get a card system π³) and the fact that any person could enter the unlocked gate then alight the stairs , open the outside door enter the rooms in the property and potentially commit a crime

"Good value. But poor security."
Looking at the reviews, my expectations were low. However, I simply needed somewhere to sleep the night before an early meeting. The room was fine for this purpose. And the price was low.
The room was clean. However, the carpet was stained.
There were no staff present. I was, very efficiently, sent a code to access the gate and another to access the room. The room code worked well - however, there was no lock on the gate. Nor on the door to access the hallway to the rooms. This meant that anyone from the street could access the common areas such as hallways and the shower and toilet for a different room - which was of the same landing as my room - thankfully, nobody entered as far as I could see. However, this security concern would put me off staying there again.
What could be improved: The gate should have had a lock to enter the code I was sent.

"Keep away."
Location was great, next to shops and transport. Parking was available at cost.
What could be improved: The entrance front door security lock was broken and out of order, and there was no hot water in the room, we had to use the communal shower, which was on a different floor. Speaking to the other guests, there has not been hot water for a few days.
Advice to stay somewhere else if you want comfort.

"Very disappointed no integrity so avoid"
What could be improved: I double booked by mistake when my battery died just at booking and despite booking.com requesting a refund they have refused which is disgraceful. The mattress was so old and uncomfortable I would not recommend this place to anyone.

"Keypad use awkward in unlit entrance..but Housekeeper very kind and helpful...definite asset !"
No breakfast available
What could be improved: Room 28 requires general refreshing of ancient bathroom....avoid 'grubby' appearance...ALSO room 28 requires a replacement of uncomfortable mattress....

"This was a disappointing booking, I wouldn't like to stay here again"
The location was in central Enfield, which worked for us. The pub is open very late, but we weren't expecting to come back early. The bed was comfortable, bedding and room was clean and compact, it was cheap.
What could be improved: It was noisy from the pub, it closes after 01.00, but we got back late-ish too, was just going to sleep when the residents of the next room returned, I discovered the walls are very thin with no isolation, they woke me up and continued to talk in bed until 03.30, which unfortunately I could hear clearly, and then began snoring at 03.35, sleep didn't arrive for me until after 05.00.
The room is not large, so the bed is pushed against the window wall, which also holds the radiator, which was on all night keeping us warm, but I also found that I was burning myself as I touched it in my sleep.
The bathroom needs a revamp, it's tired and old, the shower looks dirty, but might just need replacing.
