Overview
First Impressions
The South Wimbledon Place – Adorable 2BDR Flat with Balcony sits in one of those quiet residential streets where you actually hear birds instead of sirens. I’ll be honest — when I first saw the building, it looked pretty standard from the outside, but once you’re inside this apartment, the whole vibe shifts. The space feels thoughtfully put together, not like those cookie-cutter vacation rentals you sometimes get stuck with.
The Space That Works
This four-star flat genuinely feels like someone’s home rather than a sterile hotel room. The two bedrooms are properly sized — I mean, you can actually walk around the bed without doing some weird sideways shuffle. The living area flows naturally into a compact but functional kitchen, and honestly, having that little balcony makes such a difference when you want your morning coffee outside. You know what surprised me? The attention to small details, like decent lighting and enough outlets where you actually need them.
Location Reality Check
Here’s the thing about staying in London — everyone wants to be in Zone 1, but South Wimbledon actually works really well if you’re not afraid of a short tube ride. The Northern line gets you into central London in about 20 minutes, and there’s something refreshing about coming back to an area that feels more like real London. There’s a Sainsbury’s literally around the corner (trust me, you’ll appreciate this), and the high street has that mix of chain stores and local spots that locals actually use.
What You’ll Actually Experience
The flat sleeps four comfortably, which is rare in London without paying through the nose. I found myself using the balcony way more than I expected — it’s not huge, but it’s perfect for that first cup of coffee or a glass of wine after a long day of tourist activities. The parking situation is street parking, which can be a bit of a game, but honestly, you’re better off using public transport anyway. The whole place just feels… liveable, if that makes sense.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to blow your mind with fancy amenities or concierge service, but that’s not really the point. What you get is a proper home base that doesn’t feel cramped or impersonal — and in London, that’s actually pretty special. The 8.5 rating makes total sense when you consider you’re getting genuine space, a decent location, and a place that doesn’t feel like you’re living in someone else’s idea of what a vacation rental should be. Plus, having that extra bedroom means you’re not all on top of each other, which honestly can make or break a trip with friends or family.

"Very good"
This is a spacious and secure apartment, conveniently located near public transport, shops, and restaurants.
What could be improved: There was no air conditioning (cooling) to cope with a heatwave. The building was a little unfinished.

"Property was well located and had most of what was needed, was very enjoyable"
There were a number of key boxes in the section where you needed to collect them, it would be better if the specific box was mentioned.
What could be improved: It would have been great if the property has a microwave, as being on business just being able to warm up a meal would have been easier, also some of the pots provided were not suitable for the induction stove.

"I honestly recommend this accommodation."
The apartment is very comfortable and spacious, perfectly clean and well equipped. It is situated very close to the metro station, several stores and bars. It took us about 35 minutes to get to the center. There was a viewing during our stay, but it didn't bother us at all.
What could be improved: The only inconvenience was the lack of Internet, but we were informed about it before the arrival. Moerover, we had a little problem with opening the gate and finding the key-box. Some people helped us and then everything went smoothly. More detailed check-in instructions would be appreciated.

"Potentially a good flat, but clearly not lived in before - many small things that makes a place comfortable were not in"
The flat is light and spacious
What could be improved: The shower had very little pressure and didnt drain properly, the dishwasher also had some plumbing problem and didnt work, the entrance lobby and keysafe area is smelly and dirty.

"Expectations were met save for a few hiccups"
Very spacious and homely. I felt at home
What could be improved: Not flexible with the check in time, I arrived at 1pm and had to stay in the cold with my family inclusive of a child just to wait for 3pm, unless I was willing to part away with 50pounds for just 2hrs.
The bathroom in the master bedroom dint have a good flow of water.

"Good"
Location was convenient to South Wimbeldon and Colliers Green stations. Flat was clean and quiet at night. Lots of street noise during the day.
What could be improved: Entry into the building was very difficult. An address was provided that was really a developers number for the flat (1.05) and no where except on a map inside the building was this information available. After using all my international phone credits I finally go some additional information that the building was called Abbey Wall (which was visible although there is no building number visible). The keys were eventually able to be located but if a resident had not let me through a locked gate I would not have been able to access the keys. Please provide future people with more straight forward information such as the location and name of the building (Abbey Wall located at the corner of Abbey Road and Station Road SW19 2LP), provide instructions on how to initially get past the locked gate. Tell the customer that the locked boxes are located to the left of the main entrance door and which locked box you would find the key in (they were not labelled and there were 6 to choose from). I was only provided photos after numerous phone calls.

"DO NOT BOOK IF YOU DONT WANT CATH COLD"
Apart of what i went through flat was noce for London standarda was ok .
New building , close to sainsulbirys or underground .
What could be improved: In the bedroom, the window was missing a seal, which allowed cold wind and noise to enter the room — it felt like the window was wide open. With temperatures dropping to 2°C at night, I ended up getting sick, with a sore throat and cold symptoms that lasted the entire stay. I had to take medication throughout the holiday due to this.
At the beginning, we also lost around two hours because we couldn’t get the keys. Once we finally did, there was a part missing, so we had to wait again and couldn’t leave until someone brought the missing piece.
Apart from the windy and noisy nights, the rest of the stay was okay. But honestly, I wouldn’t recommend staying in this apartment. It’s better to pay a little more somewhere else and stay healthy.
Also, the company didn’t seem to care much — they offered only a £30 refund, which is laughable considering we were paying around £100 per night.
