First Impressions
The Ladywell in Lewisham sits on a surprisingly leafy stretch of Ladywell Road, and honestly, it caught me off guard in the best way. This four-star spot doesn’t try to be something it’s not — it’s comfortable, well-run, and has that lived-in feeling that makes you want to stay longer than planned. The building itself has character without being fussy, which pretty much sums up the whole experience here.
Location & Getting Around
You know what’s great about staying in Lewisham? It’s properly connected to central London without the chaos and tourist crowds. Ladywell station is literally a few minutes’ walk away, and you can be at London Bridge in about 15 minutes on the train. The area has this village-y feel that most visitors never discover — there’s a decent high street, some solid pubs, and Ladywell Fields right nearby if you need to stretch your legs or go for a proper walk.
The Room Experience
My room was bigger than I expected, which seems to be the theme here — everything’s a bit better than you think it’ll be. The bed was actually comfortable (not always a given), and they’ve clearly put thought into the lighting and workspace setup. The bathroom was modern and worked properly, which might sound basic but you’d be surprised how often hotels mess this up. There’s good storage space too, so you’re not living out of your suitcase the whole time.
Food & Dining
The restaurant downstairs serves proper food — nothing fancy, but done well. I had dinner there twice and breakfast once, and honestly, it’s the kind of place where the staff remember your coffee order by day two. The breakfast isn’t one of those massive buffet affairs, but what they do have is fresh and fills you up for the day. Plus, if you want something different, there are some excellent curry houses and a really good Vietnamese place within walking distance.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s the thing about The Ladywell — it gets the basics absolutely right without any unnecessary bells and whistles. The staff are helpful without hovering, the parking situation is sorted (which is huge in London), and you get a proper night’s sleep. It’s the kind of place business travelers come back to because it works, and leisure visitors appreciate because it feels authentic rather than touristy. The 8.8 rating makes complete sense once you’ve stayed here — it’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in London, but for what it is, it’s really well done.

What could be improved: Front door to the property cannot be locked from the inside . No key code to enter .

"Nice and new/newly refurbished clean apartment, very convenient to reach from London center."

- very good kitchen area, well equipped
- although it is one bedroom, there are closed doors for both rooms, so enough intimacy for 2 couples
- small grocery store just downstairs for all necessities, larger supermarket in previous train station and withing walking distance
- very quit neighbors
What could be improved: - could be more toilet paper, washing machine & dishwashing machine tablets available, so that you do not have to purchase whole pack for just a week
- very load street- a lot of police passing buy, noises from street even during night

"A really nice place"
What I liked most was that it had all the necessary utensils and the kitchen was very well equipped. The bed was very comfortable. The location was great without a car.
What could be improved: Unfortunately, you cannot park around the area because it’s only with permit

"Lovely, modern apartment in Ladywell with all we needed to feel mostly at home!"
My family (two adults and 2 kids) loved this London flat in Ladywell! It was modern and spacious...and super comfortable. Ladywell is such a lovely neighborhood and a much-needed respite from the busy and crowded central London area. The train station really is a 2-minute walk from the property, so super convenient! The flat was very clean and had a lovely, homey feel. The kitchen is gorgeous and had more than what we needed for our four days stay! The host responded immediately when I reached out...and he provided the most comprehensive arrival instructions I've ever received. Locating the property and getting in was a breeze and utilizing the flat was easy because he thought of every question we could have possibly asked...it was thorough and thoughtful. The fan kept us comfortable during our summer stay, the bed was awesome - we had everything we needed and I would happily stay here again! Bonus...there is a wild fox that frequently visits the roof of the property across the street at night. We named it Lady (even though it's likely a male)....it was a lovely surprising treat that my kids adored!
What could be improved: The duration of and the instructions about the quiet hours were intimidating and we were on pins and needles throughout our stay....terrified that we would upset the neighbors. Quiet hours for the property are from 8p-10am, which we personally felt was unreasonable. I have two small children, so my husband and I were worried constantly about the noise level. Thankfully, we didn't receive any complaints, but it added A LOT of stress to our stay. Again, we managed fine, and we really did enjoy the property, but I think this property might be better suited to a couple or single person.

"wonderful, would stay again!"
the apartment was great, very spacious and comfortable, very close to multiple train lines and bus stops which makes visiting the city very easy. very close to pubs and shops, too. the property manager was wonderful.
What could be improved: i think the welcome booklet could be updated with a new photo of the lock box. we accidentally opened the wrong box and found no key which was quite distressing. there are three boxes at the front of the unit, perhaps the owner/manager could specify which box to use?

Amazing flat! Well located, clean, close to the train station and bus stop, supermarket next to the flat and all the facilities! 1000% recommended
