The Insta Playhouse – Covent Garden – by Frankie Says
First Impressions
Walking into The Insta Playhouse – Covent Garden – by Frankie Says honestly feels like stepping into someone’s really cool friend’s place — if that friend happened to have impeccable taste and a serious budget. The name pretty much gives it away, but this four-star spot in Westminster Borough is designed for people who care about how their travel photos look. I mean, every corner seems curated for social media, but in a way that actually works rather than feeling forced.
Location & Neighborhood
You’re right in the thick of London‘s theater district here, which is both amazing and slightly chaotic depending on what you’re after. The Royal Opera House is practically next door, and you’ll find yourself weaving through crowds of tourists and theater-goers most evenings. What I love though is that you can duck into Neal’s Yard for a quieter coffee moment, or wander down to the Thames in about ten minutes when Covent Garden gets too much.
The Room Experience
The room design is where they really nail it — think boutique hotel meets Instagram aesthetic, but comfortable enough that you’d actually want to hang out here. Each space has its own personality with bold wallpapers, vintage touches, and lighting that somehow makes everyone look good (trust me on this one). The beds are proper comfortable too, which honestly surprised me given how much attention they clearly paid to the visual elements.
Amenities & Atmosphere
There’s no full-service restaurant on-site, but the communal areas encourage mingling in a way that feels natural rather than forced. The lobby doubles as a social space where you’ll often find other guests planning their day or sharing theater recommendations. What works well is the 24-hour front desk — really helpful when you’re trying to figure out last-minute show tickets or need restaurant suggestions that locals actually use.
Why Guests Love It
This place gets it right for a specific type of traveler — people who want somewhere stylish to crash between exploring London’s cultural scene. The staff genuinely seem to know their neighborhood, which makes a difference when you’re trying to avoid tourist traps. You’re paying for the location and the experience here, and if you’re someone who appreciates thoughtful design and being in the heart of everything theatrical, it delivers on that promise without trying too hard.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
