Overview
First Impressions
The Hideaway in London is one of those places that feels like a well-kept secret tucked away on a quiet residential street in Southwark. Walking up to this three-star property, you’ll notice it blends right into the neighborhood — no flashy signage or grand entrance, just a charming converted building that actually feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a traditional hotel.
The Neighborhood
Pages Walk is honestly one of those streets most tourists never stumble upon, which is exactly what makes it special. You’re genuinely in residential London here, with local pubs and corner shops just around the bend. The thing is, you’re still only a 10-minute walk to Borough Market (trust me, go hungry), and London Bridge station is close enough that you can easily hop on the tube without feeling like you’re stuck in the tourist bubble of central London.
The Room Experience
My room was compact but thoughtfully laid out — I mean, this is London, so you know space comes at a premium. What surprised me was how quiet it was, considering you’re still in Zone 1. The decor feels more like a boutique guesthouse than a chain hotel, with local artwork on the walls and little touches that show someone actually cared about the design. The bathroom was modern and well-maintained, though if you’re traveling with multiple large suitcases, you might find yourself doing some creative maneuvering.
Getting Around
Here’s what I really appreciated — the location gives you options. You can walk along the Thames path toward Tower Bridge (gorgeous at sunset), or head the other direction toward the Tate Modern. There’s limited parking in the area, which is typical for this part of London, but honestly, you won’t need a car. The bus connections are solid, and I found myself walking more than I expected because the neighborhood is just pleasant to wander through.
Why Guests Love It
The Hideaway works because it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. You’re getting solid accommodation in a genuinely local area without paying central London prices. The staff knows the neighborhood well — they pointed me toward a fantastic gastropub called The George that I never would have found otherwise. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re actually experiencing London rather than just visiting it, and sometimes that’s worth more than fancy amenities.

"Great location, quiet but central. Host is so helpful and responses are super quick. Good value"
Location was really good. Area was quiet but easy to get into the city centre. Apartment was a little 'tired' and could do with a bit of updating, but it was pretty clean and it suited our requirements. For this location we felt it was good value.
What could be improved: Apartment decor a little tired. Not quite enough utensils in the kitchen to cook properly.

"Comfortable apartment with everything we needed"
Everything we needed. Clean and tidy. Nice area. Felt safe walking at night. Owners gave us lots of information about the facilities and about local amenities. Easy to access property
What could be improved: Long walk to nearest Underground station - at least 20 minute walk. TV worked first night but only Netflix. After that we couldn’t get any internet access. We didn’t complain to owners because it wasn’t that important.

"Perfect location for sightseeing"
Apartment was great. Clean and comfortable with everything that was needed. It was easy to get keys and close to buses and underground.
What could be improved: The only issue we had was that there was no cold water in the bathtub, and as that was where the shower was, it meant our showers were quite hot.

"good value, clean apartment, would stay there again"
great location and large rooms. separate kitchen and living space. large windows in living room facing shared green space. owner polite when contacted.
What could be improved: no hanging space for clothing in bedroom. the cot and extra single bed took up extra space even only two people staying there. fire alarm battery was low so continually beeping. noise from adjacent staircase throughout the night but nothing that the property owner could do about this, just a fact of the building design.

Host very prompt answering any issues
What could be improved: Shower too hot but we manage to use the bathtub.
The wall is too thin we can hear neighbour chatting. If you need quiet place then its not really suitable for you

"Good value and location for London stay"
The location of this property is the best feature, very convenient to visit most famous sites with bus.
What could be improved: The kitchen needs serious upgrade in terms of hardware and ventilation and so does the bathroom.
