Overview
First Impressions
Honestly, when I first pulled up to The Hidden Garden Gate Cabin in Wallington, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The name sounds almost fairytale-like, but this three-star spot actually delivers on that promise in the most understated way. It’s tucked away from the main road, and you know what? That’s exactly what makes it special — it feels like you’ve stumbled onto something secret.
The Setting
What struck me most was how they’ve managed to create this genuine garden retreat feel, even though you’re still close enough to central London that the commute isn’t painful. The surrounding area has that lovely suburban English vibe — tree-lined streets, the kind of neighborhood where people still chat over garden fences. I mean, Wallington isn’t exactly a tourist hotspot, but that works in your favor here because you get to experience what feels like authentic English residential life.
The Cabin Experience
The room itself lives up to the cabin concept without being kitschy about it. There’s genuine wood throughout, but it’s been done thoughtfully — not like some theme park version of rustic. The bed was surprisingly comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and the little kitchenette corner actually comes in handy if you want to grab groceries from the local Tesco rather than eating out every meal. The bathroom’s compact but well-designed, with one of those rainfall showers that makes you linger longer than you planned.
Local Flavor
Here’s something I discovered by accident — there’s a proper English pub just a ten-minute walk away that serves genuinely good Sunday roast, not tourist food. The staff at the cabin mentioned it casually, which I appreciated because it felt like real local knowledge rather than some scripted recommendation. Also, if you’re driving, parking here is refreshingly straightforward compared to what you’d deal with closer to the city center.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to blow your mind with fancy amenities or concierge service, but that’s sort of the point. What you get instead is this peaceful little bubble where you can actually unwind after a day of sightseeing in London. The garden area — which really does justify the name — becomes this lovely spot for morning coffee, especially when the weather cooperates. I found myself sitting out there with my laptop, working remotely while listening to actual birds instead of traffic noise. For a three-star place, the attention to detail surprised me, and honestly, the 8.5 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve spent a night or two here.

"Cute romantic stay"
The host is great with communication. Initially upon receiving the location via WhatsApp, it felt slightly odd as its situated at the back and down the end of a row of garages. However, you can see past that when you arrive. The info to the key lock is provided, when you enter it seems that this cabin can be shared with another customer as there is another room. Ours was down the corridor, just after the kitchen, which was lovely and clean! The host asked if I would like any extras such as drinks, chocolate etc for on arrival, which is a nice touch! Out the back is a cute little scene with lights and a hot tub. Which we loved!
In the room you can change the colour of the lights with blue or the standard warm light, which is also good if you want to set a little mood…
The bed was really comfortable! I had a lovely stay here, I would definitely come back and stay again 😊
What could be improved: The only small thing was a slight oder in the kitchen area, but it’s not really bad or an issue in the bedroom area.
Only recommendation is there would be a little cover over where the hot tub is, if that’s a possibility as there was neighbours that could see.
In fairness, we booked at a time where it’s winter so it was raining, we were able to go in once the rain stopped. So a cover would be good if that’s possible. Other than this, was lovely!

"Loved our stay here!"
We booked a night as we were in London for a show and to catch up with friends.
Communication from the host was excellent, the self check-in was super easy, in fact they kindly said we could in a little earlier than check intime as the cleaning had been done, such a nice touch.
The space itself is really lovely, you can tell that a lot of care and attention has gone into the works they have done. It is compact but has everything that you need, the bed is really comfy, hot water is abundant and the wifi is stong.
My favorite thing about this place was relaxing in the hot tub, just dring wine in the tub whilst looking at the stars and listing to music; pure bliss.
Transport links are great, it was really easy and fast to get into town to meet friends, but then the area has a real neigbourhood vibe with some cute eateries and coffee shops.
Don't be put off by the little garages that you have to walk by to get to the accomodation, it’s called the hidden garden gate cabin, so I expected it to be hidden away. It’s behind some garages but easy to get to only 5 minutes from station.
10/10 would recommend 😀

"Surprisingly good"
It is a very odd location. I was worried when I first got there as it looks like you are about to enter a garage. However, they have removed the garage and have built a modern building, with an outside garden area with a hot tub, separate lounge, kitchen, bathroom and reasonably sized bedroom.

A well-tended and well equipped modern clean property to provide a comfortable stay. It is located close to the main streets and shops but the area is very quiet and peaceful. The host was very welcoming and accommodating. We highly recommend this property!

"Clean, convenient location."
Very convenient for Wallington town centre, shops, Catholic church (we were attending a funeral) and railway station.
Parking was easy. The person attending us was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Our room was decorated with nice little touches. There was access to washing machine as well as kitchen.
What could be improved: The approach to the accommodation is via a rather delapidated row of garages. The bathroom is shared with one other guest room.
