The Hayden Pub & Rooms
First Impressions
The Hayden Pub & Rooms caught me off guard in the best possible way. Walking along Westbourne Grove, you’d think it’s just another traditional London pub — and honestly, that’s part of its charm. This four-star gem sits right in the heart of London’s Bayswater area, where the energy of Notting Hill meets the quieter residential streets of Westminster Borough.
The Pub Experience
Here’s what makes this place different — the restaurant downstairs isn’t just some hotel dining afterthought. It’s a proper gastropub that locals actually frequent, which means the food is genuinely good and the atmosphere feels authentic rather than touristy. I mean, you’re literally staying above a working pub, so you get that real London experience without the noise issues you might expect (the soundproofing is surprisingly effective).
The Room
My room was compact but thoughtfully designed — they’ve clearly put effort into maximizing the space without making it feel cramped. The decor strikes this nice balance between modern comfort and that classic British pub aesthetic. You won’t find a spa or pool here, but honestly, the attention to detail in the rooms more than makes up for it. The bed was comfortable, the shower had proper pressure, and there’s decent storage space for your luggage.
Location & Neighborhood
Westbourne Grove is one of those streets that perfectly captures what I love about this part of London. You’re a short walk from Hyde Park, which is brilliant for morning runs or evening strolls. Paddington Station is close enough that you can easily catch trains to Heathrow or day trips outside the city. What really sold me on the location, though, is how you’re positioned between the boutique shops of Notting Hill and the more authentic, less touristy parts of Bayswater — you get the best of both worlds.
Why Guests Love It
The staff here actually know what they’re doing, which isn’t always a given at boutique places like this. They’re friendly without being overly familiar, and they seem to genuinely care about your stay. Parking can be tricky in this area (it’s London, after all), but they’ll give you solid advice about nearby options. The 9.3 rating makes perfect sense when you experience the combination of authentic atmosphere, solid comfort, and that rare feeling that you’re staying somewhere that locals would actually choose too. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in London — it’s just trying to be really good at what it does.
