Overview
First Impressions
The Duke Rooms London sits on a quiet stretch of Harrowby Street, and honestly, you might walk right past it if you’re not paying attention. It’s one of those understated three-star places that doesn’t try to wow you with a grand entrance — just a simple Georgian townhouse that’s been converted into a hotel. The lobby is compact but clean, and you get the sense that this place focuses more on getting the basics right than making flashy statements.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I really appreciated about the location — you’re in Westminster Borough but on a residential street that actually feels calm. Edgware Road is literally around the corner with all its Middle Eastern restaurants and late-night buzz, but Harrowby Street itself stays pretty peaceful. The Marble Arch tube station is maybe a seven-minute walk, which means you can get to Oxford Street without dealing with the chaos of staying right on top of it. Smart positioning, if you ask me.
The Room Experience
My room was smaller than I expected — this is central London after all — but it was thoughtfully laid out. The bed was comfortable enough, and there’s a decent-sized window that actually opens (you’d be surprised how many London hotels seal you in). The bathroom is what I’d call “efficiently designed,” meaning everything fits but you’re not doing yoga in there. What impressed me was how quiet it stayed at night, despite being so close to busy streets.
Practical Details
There’s no restaurant on-site, which might disappoint some people, but I actually liked having an excuse to explore the neighborhood. The staff keeps things simple — they’ll give you recommendations if you ask, but they’re not hovering around trying to upsell you on tours. WiFi worked fine throughout my stay, and the cleaning was consistent. It’s the kind of place where everything just… works without any fuss.
Why Guests Appreciate It
Look, The Duke Rooms London isn’t going to change your life or become the highlight of your trip stories. But sometimes that’s exactly what you need — a reliable base that doesn’t eat up half your travel budget while still keeping you properly located. The value makes sense when you consider you’re paying for a decent night’s sleep in Westminster rather than bells and whistles you might not use anyway. It’s honest hospitality without the pretense, which feels refreshing in a city where hotels often try too hard.
Guest reviews
"Very good"
Great location, clean room. Staff were so friendly, couldn't do enough to help. Were able to store our bags before and after check in.
What could be improved: As other reviews have said, rooms are up steep stairs and quite small, but we thought this added to the character.

"Cozy stay ⭐️"
The hotel itself is lovely; warm, clean, and very cozy, with a relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel at home right away. But what really made the difference was the guy at the reception, Barbil. He was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and went out of his way to make everything smooth and pleasant. Highly recommend this place, especially thanks to the amazing service!
What could be improved: Details like the bathroom door not closing or the hair dryer not really dryer.

"A very comfortable and pleasant place to stay. They had a very convenient and friendly pub right underneath the apartmen"
Bright and clean, great location, above a very convenient pub.
What could be improved: Nothing much. Maybe the electrical sockets need a refresh.

"Would we go back? YES"
We loved the pub down stairs and the staff here were very friendly, the owner/manager was a really nice guy, the beds were comfy (a double & a single bed/chair)
The showere was very very good, the towels soft and clean, the decor was modern and fresh.
The aircon was a godsend. A rokm safe was a great touch.
The manager insisted the wife drank for free saturday evening for free due to no working tv in the room (she had 3 bottles of prosecco at £8 a bottle and snacks).
10min walk from Edgeware Rd tube station, dozens of places to eat and buy snacks etc between hotel & tube.
What could be improved: The tv didnt work, butt that wasnt a massive issue as we were not in London to sit 'home' and watch tv.
Was no spoon with the tea & coffee station, and in the mornings there was a clear issue with damp on the external walls on day 1 but leaving windows open cured that for day 2.
We were on 3rd floor room 302 which was a struggle for the wife as shes disabled BUT we didnt inform hotel prior so not their fault.

"Superb"
The room was comfortable. Had great air con. Location was good. Good few tube lines all within 10 minutes walk. Oxford street only 10 minutes away. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby. We were all really happy with it.
Room serviced every day.
What could be improved: Check in times are strict no reception, only pub staff although they couldn't be more helpful.
Also stairs no lift.

"Reasonably priced, clean and comfortable room close to where we needed it."
Friendly and helpful staff on arrival. Room clean and as expected from photos.
What could be improved: Room was on third floor up a steep stair case. Not an issue for us but worth being aware of.

"Nice pub hotel
with good location"
Comfortable bed, good shower,
quiet location. Nice pub downstairs with friendly staff. Able to store luggage while we enjoyed our last day around London after check out. Good location for visiting a concert at Hyde Park, also close enough to walk down oxford street for shopping.
What could be improved: Would suggest more pillows are provided as were only 2 on double bed.

"A really great find.."
This is a lovely, well priced, boutique hotel, not a corporate soulless box. I love that it's air conditioned, quiet, quirky and so central (10 minutes' walk from Edgware Rd tube). There's a bar on the ground floor and the manager is charming. The beds are comfy, curtains are blackout and the showers are gorgeous. Really impressive for the cost, so I'll be back soon. This place is friendly and welcoming, which is far better than most of the hotels I've stayed in. It felt like my visit mattered.
