First Impressions
The ibis London Greenwich sits on a quiet side street that honestly feels worlds away from central London’s chaos, even though you’re only twenty minutes from the city center. I’ll be straight with you — this three-star hotel isn’t trying to be fancy, but it absolutely nails what it sets out to do. The red-brick building fits right into Greenwich’s historic vibe, and when I walked in, the lobby had that clean, modern ibis feel without being sterile.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about staying in Greenwich — you’re literally five minutes from the Cutty Sark and the Maritime Museum, but you can also grab groceries at the Tesco Express right around the corner. The Greenwich DLR station is maybe a seven-minute walk, which means you can be at Canary Wharf in fifteen minutes or London Bridge in about twenty. What’s really nice is that Stockwell Street actually connects you to the main Greenwich Church Street area, so you’ve got pubs, cafés, and that weekend market all within easy reach.
The Room Experience
My room was compact but cleverly designed — I mean, ibis really knows how to maximize space without making you feel cramped. The bed was surprisingly comfortable (those Sweet Bed mattresses they use actually work), and the shower had proper water pressure, which honestly matters more than people think. There’s a small desk that’s perfect for checking emails, and the blackout curtains actually block out light, so you can sleep in if you want.
Dining & Amenities
The hotel restaurant serves a decent continental breakfast, though I’d probably recommend wandering into Greenwich proper for dinner — there are some brilliant gastropubs within walking distance. What I appreciated was the 24-hour snack station in the lobby and the fact that you can grab coffee whenever you need it. The staff genuinely seem to know the area well, so don’t hesitate to ask for recommendations.
Why Guests Love It
You know what really works about this place? It’s unpretentious and reliable, which is exactly what you want when you’re exploring London but don’t want to pay West End prices. The hotel gives you easy access to both Greenwich’s historic charm and central London’s attractions, plus there’s actual parking available if you’re driving (though you’ll want to book that in advance). It’s the kind of place where you sleep well, start your day properly, and don’t worry about the bill breaking your budget.
