Overview

First Impressions

The Courtfield Plaza sits on a tree-lined Victorian street in Kensington, and honestly, you’d walk right past it if you weren’t looking. It’s tucked into a converted townhouse that feels more like stepping into someone’s well-appointed home than checking into a hotel. The three-star rating might not sound flashy, but I mean, sometimes that’s exactly what you want — especially when you’re paying South Kensington prices.

Location and Getting Around

Courtfield Gardens is one of those streets that locals actually know about. You’re a two-minute walk from Gloucester Road tube station, which puts you on the Piccadilly line straight to Heathrow — no dragging suitcases through endless connections. The Natural History Museum is literally around the corner, and Hyde Park starts just up the road. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, considering you’re in central London.

The Apartment Setup

Here’s where things get interesting — you’re not getting a standard hotel room. The Courtfield Plaza operates more like serviced apartments, which means you’ll have space to actually live a bit. My unit had a proper sitting area and a compact kitchenette that was surprisingly functional. The bathroom was small (this is London, after all), but everything worked perfectly and felt recently updated.

Daily Life and Amenities

The staff operates more like friendly apartment managers than traditional hotel employees, which I found refreshing. There’s no elaborate breakfast service or formal restaurant, but honestly, with Borough Market just a tube ride away and countless pubs within walking distance, you’re not missing much. They do provide basic necessities and housekeeping, plus the kitchen setup means you can grab groceries from the Tesco Express down the street.

Why Guests Love It

Look, if you want marble lobbies and room service, this isn’t your place. But if you’re looking for a base in one of London’s most sought-after neighborhoods without the eye-watering prices of the big hotels, The Courtfield Plaza actually makes a lot of sense. The combination of location, space, and that residential feel creates something that’s hard to find elsewhere in this part of town. You get to live like a temporary Londoner rather than just another tourist, and after a few days, you’ll probably find yourself nodding to the same dog walkers on your morning coffee runs.

Hotel in London reservations surge before major festivals, so smart travelers lock in skyline rooms months ahead.

"A great place to stay - small and compact and in a great location to the museums and train."
Location was great and close to the train and high street. Room was small but had everything you needed. Use of laundry facilities just outside room was handy.
What could be improved: Shower got blocked and we couldn't get this fixed while we were there so had to have very quick showers before it overflowed each time. However this was a one off issue and Bella apologised for our inconvenience.

"Pleasant ground floor flat close to museums"
It was very well located, near museums, underground, supermarkets and pubs. It was clean and on the ground floor, so we didn’t have to struggle up stairs with luggage
What could be improved: It was quite small and the television was very temperamental to work, and the sound faded in and out

"Wonderful find"
This was a great find. The location is on a quiet side street, but just over two blocks from a Tube station, with two major supermarkets just as close. The flat is comfortable, with all the basic necessities. There is only one key to manage.
What could be improved: It was a fluke, but I wish communication with the host had been a little better. Wifi seemed slow, never getting above 7 Mbps.

"Good value when taking into account the location."
Great location and communication with the host.
What could be improved: Shower was a little small and needs work, although I understand these issues were caused by a previous guest and will be fixed very soon.

"Comfortable stay in an excellent location"
Location, quite, all the amenities you need
What could be improved: Just a minor point. The room can be dark but being on the street one need to draw the blinds at night, however it is difficult or almost impossible to raise them in the morning as the cords are out of reach for most people. So was left with the blinds down. As mentioned this is a minor point that can be easily rectified by the owners

"Apartment close to tourist sights like Kensington Palace and Gardens, Albert Hall and V&A Museum"
Great location. The apartment is close to Gloucester Road tube station, Thai, Lebanese, and Italian restaurants and two grocery stores, Sainsburys and Waitrose, all on Cromwell Road around the corner. Kensington Gardens are only 20 minutes walk away through South Kensington. The studio apartment is small but comfortable and equipped with what we needed. High-speed internet good. The apartment was quiet so we slept well. The apartment keys were in a big padlock key box attached to the side railing grill of apartment entrance at the top of the stairs. Didn't see the padlock straight away as we were expecting a wall keybox but other occupants in the building who arrived atvthe same time as us pointed out the location.
What could be improved: Only minor issues - no dish drying rack in kitchen. There was only one roll toilet paper in bathroom when we arrived and we were staying 4 nights and it is not a serviced apartment, but more rolls were delivered the next day after I messaged the owner through booking.com.
