Overview
First Impressions
The Chamberlain sits right on the edge of the City of London’s financial district, and honestly, it caught me off guard in the best way. You walk up to this Georgian building on Minories and think you’re getting another corporate hotel, but step inside and there’s actually character here. The lobby feels more like an upscale pub than your typical business hotel — dark wood, comfortable leather chairs, and staff who seem genuinely happy to see you.
Location & Neighborhood
The location is pretty brilliant if you ask me. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Tower Hill tube station, which means you can get anywhere in London without the usual fuss. The Tower of London is right there — I mean, you can practically see it from some windows. What I really love though is how quiet it gets in the evenings once all the office workers head home. During the day it’s buzzing with City energy, but by 7 PM you’ve got these historic streets almost to yourself.
The Room Experience
My room was on the third floor, and I’ll be honest — it wasn’t huge, but it was thoughtfully designed. The bed was properly comfortable (you know how hit-or-miss hotel beds can be), and they’ve managed to fit in a decent workspace without making everything feel cramped. The bathroom was spotless with a shower that actually had good water pressure — something you can’t take for granted in older London buildings.
Food & Drink
The ground floor restaurant and bar area really surprised me. It’s got this warm, gastropub vibe that feels authentically British without being cheesy about it. The breakfast was solid — proper English breakfast if you want it, but also lighter options that don’t make you feel sluggish all morning. The evening crowd is a nice mix of hotel guests and locals from the neighborhood, which always feels like a good sign to me.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this four-star place isn’t trying to be the fanciest hotel in London, and that’s exactly why it works. The staff remember your name after one night, the building has genuine history (parts of it date back to the 1700s), and you’re positioned perfectly to explore both the historic bits and modern London. It’s the kind of place where business travelers feel comfortable but tourists don’t feel out of place either. You’re paying for solid comfort and a great location without the premium you’d shell out for a flashier address in Mayfair or Covent Garden.

"An excellent, stylish hotel close to the Tower of London"
This is a stylish, very comfortable and welcoming hotel near to Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. I loved the art deco style of the hotel, the spacious and spotless bedroom and ensuite, the roast dinner on Sunday and the generous complimentary breakfast.

"Comfortable, convenient, would stay there again."
Quite comfortable. Quiet. Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast included. Close to public transport.
What could be improved: I could feel the subway below, but got used to it quickly. Also, doors close with a loud clunk, which made me nervous at first, but my end of the floor was not busy.

"Exceptional hotel, staff, & breakfast"
The entire experience was fantastic. The location was perfect, and the staff were absolutely amazing, friendly, supportive, and truly exceptional. The breakfast was fabulous, offering gluten-free and sugar-free choices. And the room size was comfortable for two people. I loved having my favourite Nespresso coffee & machine in the room.
The restaurant and dining experience at the hotel were also excellent; you don’t even need to look outside for anything, and the prices were very reasonable.
What could be improved: The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the dim lighting in the room. I prefer brighter lighting, so having that option would have been wonderful.

"Gorgeous hotel"
The room was beautiful and bigger than expected, including a lovely big bathroom. Very clean room and comfy beds, quiet at night, friendly staff, and complimentary water and fresh milk. Breakfast was delicious and loads of choice. A free drink at the bar too. We would definitely stay again and it made our trip to London really special
