The Angel Collection minutes from Angel Tube Station sits right on City Road in Islington, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better if you’re planning to explore North London. I’ll be upfront — this is an apartment-style setup rather than a traditional hotel, which means you get your own space but without the usual front desk service. The building itself is pretty typical for the area, nothing fancy from the outside, but that’s actually part of its charm in this residential neighborhood.
The Space
Walking into the apartment, you immediately notice how much room you have compared to most London accommodations. The layout is smart — there’s a proper living area that doesn’t feel cramped, and the kitchen is actually functional (not just a corner with a kettle). I mean, you can genuinely cook here if you want to save money on London’s restaurant prices. The whole place feels more like staying at a friend’s flat than a hotel, which some people love and others might find a bit impersonal.
Location Perks
Here’s what I really appreciated — Angel station is literally a few minutes’ walk away, and once you’re on the Northern line, you can get to Central London in about 15 minutes. But you know what’s even better? You’re right in the heart of Islington, which means Chapel Market is practically on your doorstep, and Upper Street with all its pubs and theaters is just a short stroll. The area has this great mix of locals and visitors, so it never feels touristy but you’re not completely off the beaten path either.
Practical Details
The four-star rating feels about right for what you get here. Everything works properly, the wifi is solid, and there’s decent parking nearby if you’re driving (though honestly, with Angel station so close, I wouldn’t bother with a car). The apartment stays quiet despite being on a fairly busy road, and you get proper blackout curtains, which is something I always notice after too many nights in places where the streetlights keep you awake.
Why Guests Love It
This place works well for people who want independence during their London stay — you can pop out for groceries, make your own coffee in the morning, and spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re living out of a suitcase. The 7.8 rating reflects what it is: a solid, well-located apartment that gives you good value in an expensive city. The apartment was in a nice neighborhood close to the tube, grocery stores, and restaurants. We discovered the regent canal nearby, which became a favourite for walks in the morning!
What could be improved: The dryer part of the combo washing machine/dryer didn’t dry very well, but they did supply a drying rack.

"Very good"
The location is convenient. Well connected with a bus stop right opposite and the tube station only a very short walk away. The area is right outside the lively Angel where there are shops for groceries and anything you'd need, even shopping, a very short walking distance away.
The apartment is spacious for a solo traveller and would also be all right for a couple stay. Kitchen is equipped with the basics incl. Microwave, oven, hob, toaster, kettle and a coffee machine. I even found some biscuits left by the host, along with tea bags, coffee pods and some dishwasher tablets / for the combined washing machine and dryer.
The bathroom has underfloor heating and the apartment was cosy throughout my stay. Hot water was available at all times too.
Communication with the host was good and timely.
What could be improved: Being a loft, the apartment is on the 5th floor and there are no lifts in the building. Whilst it served as some exercise, taking my luggage up and down the c. 52 steps on my own was a bit of a struggle. Keep this in mind if you have mobility issues.
Almost all the lights are dimmable which is great, and the light was ample, however the bedroom lights sometimes took long to respond to the on/off switch settings. Nothing major though, and I always had the lighting I needed.

What could be improved: Cobwebs , very less utensils no wok ! Replenishment of kitchen polybags and utensils cleaner less , floor needs changing and soundproof needed as top floors even climbing stairs would be very disturbing , more lightening needed in bathroom and room
