Stylish and spacious 2 bed apartment
First Impressions
The Stylish and spacious 2 bed apartment sits in a quiet residential block in Barking — and honestly, it’s one of those places that surprises you once you step inside. From the street, you might not expect much, but the apartment itself has been thoughtfully updated with modern touches that make it feel fresh and welcoming. The space genuinely lives up to its name too — I mean, you’ve got room to actually spread out here, which is pretty rare for London accommodation at this price point.
Location & Getting Around
Barking gets overlooked by a lot of travelers, but it’s actually quite well-connected if you know what you’re doing. You’re about a 15-minute walk to Barking station, where the District line will get you into central London in roughly 45 minutes. There’s also the Overground from here, which I found handy for reaching different parts of the city without going through the chaos of central tube stations. The neighborhood itself is pretty authentic — you’ll find local shops, a decent Tesco nearby, and honestly some of the best Caribbean food I’ve had outside of Brixton.
The Space Itself
What struck me most about this three-star place is how the owners have made smart use of every square foot. The main room flows nicely into the dining area, and there’s proper seating where you can actually relax after a day of sightseeing. The kitchen is surprisingly well-equipped — I managed to cook a few meals here without any frustration, which says something. Both bedrooms are a good size, and you know what, the beds are actually comfortable (you’d be amazed how often that’s not the case in budget stays).
Practical Considerations
The 7.6 rating makes sense when you consider what you’re getting for the price. It’s not going to wow you with fancy amenities, but everything works as it should. The WiFi is solid, the heating keeps things comfortable, and there’s decent water pressure in the shower. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle on the street, but it’s free after 6 PM and all weekend, so if you’re driving, just plan accordingly. The hosts are pretty responsive too — when I had a small issue with the TV remote, they sorted it out quickly.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to be the highlight of your London trip, but it does exactly what it promises. You get genuine space to breathe (which is precious in London), a proper local experience instead of tourist bubble accommodation, and your money stretches further than it would closer to central London. Families especially seem to appreciate having two proper bedrooms and space for everyone to have their own corner when needed. It’s the kind of place that works really well as a base for exploring London without breaking the bank.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
