Overview
First Impressions
The Stunning and Spacious 4 Bed Apr next to BrickLane sits right in the heart of Tower Hamlets, and honestly, the name pretty much tells you everything you need to know. This three-star apartment really delivers on that “spacious” promise — I mean, four bedrooms in this part of London is no joke. You’re literally a two-minute walk from all the Brick Lane chaos, which is either perfect or slightly overwhelming depending on what you’re after.
Location & Neighborhood
Chicksand House is tucked into one of those residential pockets that feels surprisingly calm considering you’re basically next door to one of London’s busiest food streets. The Shoreditch energy is right there when you want it — curry houses, vintage shops, that whole scene — but you can actually escape it when you need to decompress. The Old Street station is about a 10-minute walk, and honestly, that’s your gateway to pretty much everywhere in central London.
The Space
What struck me most was how the place actually feels like a proper home rather than a typical tourist rental. The kitchen is genuinely functional (not just for show), and each room has enough space to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase. The layout works well for groups — whether that’s families or friends traveling together — because you’re not constantly bumping into each other. The decor is sort of modern-minimal without being sterile, if that makes sense.
Daily Life Here
Mornings are actually pretty peaceful despite the central location. You can grab coffee from the dozens of places on Brick Lane, or just make your own and plan your day without rushing. The apartment works well as a base because there’s proper parking nearby (which, let’s be real, is gold in this area), and you’ve got Spitalfields Market just around the corner for groceries or browsing. Sunday mornings are especially nice when the vintage market gets going — you can literally roll out of bed and be there in minutes.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t a fancy hotel with room service, but that’s sort of the point. You get the independence of your own place with the bonus of being in one of London’s most vibrant neighborhoods. The 7.5 rating feels about right — it’s solid, reliable, and gives you exactly what it promises without any surprises. For groups especially, the value proposition is hard to beat when you factor in the space, location, and the fact that you can actually cook a meal instead of eating out for every single meal in expensive central London.

"Apartment fitted accordingly to booking pictures , yet location and building were horrible"
Inside of the apartment fitted according to the pictures in booking
What could be improved: location the surrounding area was not the best nor safest.
Building: Main entrance door of apartment building is not locked. As well as stairs, floors, and hallways were extremely dirty (Trash everywhere).

"Well located apartment in popular area"
The bedrooms and living room are all a good size, it was great to find a 4 bedroom property with 4 double bedrooms.
It's up 3 flights of stairs with no lift, so it's worth knowing this if you have limited mobility/small children/lots of luggage.
Being central London it's a noisy area, to be expected, although we were pleasantly surprised the apartment was very solid so very little sound blled between apartments at night it was much quieter than we thought it might have been so that was a great bonus.
It's a very short 8-minute walk to Aldgate East tube station, which has great connections across London.
In the area there are so many restaurants and cafes to sample, you could stay here for a month and probably not get to try them all out! A foodie paradise.
What could be improved: The shower cubical is very small so even at my not particularly tall height (5ft 8) it was challenging to wash my hair in the shower without bashing my elbows! I think it i was 6ft or a larger build it would have been a real struggle.

"Great to enjoy London with the family."
Good location in the heart of London.
Super responsive and supportive staff.
What could be improved: We only had a single key to the apartment, so splitting our group was somewhat of a hassle.

"Good Value for 4 bed 2 bath in Central London"
Good location just around the corner from Brick Lane and Spitalfields and walkable to London bridge. Good value for central London. Several other reviews have been concerned about the safety of the building and immediate area. We felt comfortable. The neighbourhood has some older buildings and is populated by immigrants and students. If those groups make you uncomfortable then... maybe stay elsewhere. Hosts were very helpful and responsive. We had one issue with the cooktop and they resolved it immediately.
What could be improved: It's bright, but not exactly spacious. Rooms are as pictured but the rest of the flat is narrow hallways. Kitchen fits 2 people max at a time. If you're using this as an exploration base of operations like we were, it's not a big problem. If you are hoping to hang out there, you will probably find it a bit tight. Living room is small.

"Pleasant stay"
Great inside and wonderful host
What could be improved: Outside is a bit unpleasant and letting guest know that there is no elevator or lift would be valuable

"Pleasant"
What could be improved: Location, layout of the house, half of the windows overlooked a common balcony / corridor. The corridor and stairs were dirty. Moreover, we had problems with the water regulator (the water in the shower was very hot and not adjustable). Plus the shower holder was broken.

"Overall, it's a good stay."
The rooms are clean and comfy. I like that there is a shared living room for everyone to interact and chill in.
Location is nearer to Aldgate East, around 5-7 minutes walk.
What could be improved: The shower is small and the running water went extremely hot and then cold.
Climbing of stairs with luggage can be very tiring.

"Good"
Very clean. Location is great - 8 min walk to Aldgate East tube station. Apartment is modern and nicely decorated. It has everything you'd need - hairdryer, towels, fully equipped kitchen, TV in every room.
What could be improved: Internet was very slow. Apartment is much smaller than what the photos indicate. We had the maximum occupancy (12) and it felt very tight. Shower is very small and shower doors don't close properly meaning water drips out onto the tiled floor and becomes very slippy.
