Overview
First Impressions
Tucked away on Lower Marsh Street, Stow Away Waterloo doesn’t exactly jump out at you — and honestly, that’s part of its charm. This three-star spot sits right in the middle of one of London’s most underrated neighborhoods, where you’ll find proper street food vendors and vintage shops instead of tourist traps. The building itself has that classic London brick facade that blends right into the streetscape, which I actually love because it feels like you’re staying somewhere locals would know about.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Here’s what I didn’t expect — Lower Marsh is brilliant for getting around London without dealing with the usual chaos. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Waterloo Station, which means the entire city opens up via the Underground and mainline trains. But the real gem is the street itself, especially during the day when the market comes alive. I mean, you can grab Lebanese wraps, proper coffee, and browse through second-hand books all within a block of your hotel. The South Bank is right there too, so evening walks along the Thames become part of your routine rather than a tourist expedition.
What Your Room Actually Offers
The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully designed — they’ve clearly worked hard to maximize every square foot. The bed was comfortable enough, and the ensuite bathroom, while small, had everything you need including decent water pressure (which, let’s be honest, isn’t always guaranteed in London). What impressed me most was the attention to little details: proper reading lights, enough outlets for your devices, and blackout curtains that actually work. The Wi-Fi was solid throughout my stay, and the heating responded quickly when I needed it.
Daily Rhythms and Practical Bits
Breakfast happens in a cozy ground-floor space that feels more like a neighborhood café than a hotel dining room. It’s nothing fancy — think continental style with decent pastries, fresh fruit, and proper coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around for hours. The staff here are genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions. They’ll actually give you directions that make sense and restaurant recommendations that aren’t just the nearest chain. Parking isn’t available on-site, but honestly, you won’t miss having a car in this location.
Why Guests Keep Coming Back
Look, Stow Away Waterloo isn’t trying to be something it’s not — it’s a solid, well-run place to sleep in an area that gives you real access to London life. The 7.4 rating reflects exactly what you get: reliable comfort without unnecessary frills, in a location that locals appreciate but tourists often overlook. You’re close enough to major attractions when you want them, but far enough from the crowds to feel like you’re actually experiencing the city rather than just visiting it. For the price point, it delivers exactly what most travelers actually need rather than what hotel marketing thinks they want.

"A well contained night in London"
This has everything I need for a stopover. Very comfy bed and good pillows. I'm having to travel light so the hair dryer, big towels and complimentary body and hair wash all much appreciated. And there was a decent blackout
What could be improved: The TV didn't work. There was a lot of noise outside at about 4am. No idea what it was. City sounds I suppose. There were complimentary earplugs. I probably should have used them.

"Handy place to stay near Waterloo"
Hot shower, close to Waterloo Station, wine bars and cafes nearby, lovely clean and warm. Nice quirky converted containers
What could be improved: No hot water in the kitchen or bathroom sinks, which was OK for one night but was a bit odd

"Clean, comfy and good location right next to Waterloo station."
The size of the room was great, had a little kitchen area with kettle, cutlery and other amenities although we didn’t need to use any of it. All clean and tidy. Bathroom was a good size too with toiletries. Bed was large and comfortable. For the location and price we thought it was great!
What could be improved: Nothing, it was a great place to stay.

Size of room, shower, location.
What could be improved: Fire alarm going off at 12.30am and evacuating building to stand out on street for an hour…

"Convenient, comfortable, and customer service could have been better."
The double doors to block out the sound of the trains.
Room facilities.
Hot water.
Air conditioning.
What could be improved: It would have been nice if the kitchen light had worked, and the soap in the shower had been filled up upon our arrival.
The room did not have laundry detergent as it should, so we called the reception. There was only one number provided, so we assumed the service was for Waterloo. We called the reception multiple times to come to our room to deliver the laundry detergent. We waited for 1 hour, only to realise that the receptionist went up to a room with the same room number 3 times, but just not to ours; it was at a different location. We did not get any laundry detergent in the end.

"Very pleasant. Easy to use and comfy when we got in. Easy access to station."
Easy to get to & be in. Air conditioned which was great.
What could be improved: We didn’t get the access code before the time and had to get it sorted.

"Well located, reasonably priced (for what you get and where) and very comfortable."
A really good, streamlined and entirely staffless experience. Excellent follow-up call post checkout to find out if I had any comments or issues with the property.

"Lovely place, slightly overpriced for what it is but other side worth the stay"
The overall property was really nice, very easy to access and very modern. Lovely what they’ve done with the space overall I think they’ve utilised it really well! It’s not far from local train stations to get to local shops either.
What could be improved: Due to the size I do think it’s slightly on the pricey side and probably think it isn’t quite worth the price it’s set at. However I understand it is typically a niche type property so that’s probably why
