Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Still Life Aldgate Deluxe on Whitechapel High Street, I’ll be honest — the exterior doesn’t scream luxury hotel. But that’s actually part of its charm. This four-star property sits quietly among the bustling East End shops and curry houses, and once you step inside, you realize that’s exactly the point. The lobby has this understated elegance that feels refreshingly un-stuffy for London.
The Neighborhood Vibe
You know what I love about this location? You’re literally in the heart of one of London’s most authentic neighborhoods. Whitechapel isn’t trying to impress tourists — it’s just getting on with being brilliantly diverse and real. The famous Brick Lane is a five-minute walk away, and honestly, the curry scene there is unmatched. Plus, Aldgate East tube station is right there, so you can be in the City or West End in no time.
The Apartment Experience
Here’s where Still Life really shines — these aren’t hotel rooms, they’re proper serviced apartments. My apartment had a full kitchen with everything you’d actually need, not just a sad little kettle. The living space felt like somewhere you could genuinely settle in for a week or more. The room was spacious by London standards (which, let’s face it, isn’t saying much, but still), and the bed was surprisingly comfortable.
Daily Life Details
What struck me most was how the place handles the little things that matter when you’re staying somewhere for more than just a night or two. There’s a weekly housekeeping service that doesn’t feel intrusive, and the front desk staff actually remember your name after a day or two. The building has this quiet efficiency about it — no loud tourists stumbling through corridors at 2 AM, just people who seem to be living their London lives. I mean, there’s no fancy restaurant or spa, but when you’re surrounded by some of the best food in London, why would you need that?
Why Guests Love It
The thing about Still Life Aldgate Deluxe is that it gets something right that a lot of London hotels miss — it gives you space to actually live, not just sleep. The 9.1 rating makes sense when you experience how seamlessly everything works. You’ve got parking available (which is practically a miracle in this part of London), but honestly, you won’t need a car here. This place works best for people who want to experience London like a local rather than tick off tourist boxes from a generic hotel base.
Early hotels booking in London secures West End tickets, rooftop cocktail nights, and small-group afternoon tea sessions.

"Perfect location and apartment"
The apartment is absolutely perfect, the staff is really friendly and the location is great. Just 10 minutes away by food from the central Liverpool Street Station and literally 1 minute away from the metro it’s amazing for both work visit and tourist visit. Highly recommended!
What could be improved: Everything was great.

"Well maintained apartment in central location right next to underground station"
Great location if you need to be based in central london around the business district. Well maintained apartment with all the standard facilities, fantastic views, right next to underground station.
What could be improved: The documentation process for the booking payment and confirmation was a bit cumbersome.

"A blast, really."
the location is fantastic, the view incredible. the building is clean and secure. The agent at still life is really efficient and help a lot with great communication.
Great area with city life and Tube access directly from the building.
What could be improved: Nothing really, but I would warn people who are not accustomed to city noise, this is London and you ear it. For us we slept with the windows open and we didn’t care but, even on the 16th floor, this could be loud. My two teenagers did not bother either, they actually loved it.

"Central location"
The balcony was a welcome bonus
What could be improved: There was no air con
The bed was too small and didn’t need the extra wardrobe with having a built in wardrobe
There was no mirror or dressing table to do hair/ make up

"Few days in east London"
The location is great. Close to lots of public transport. Stone's throw to Whitechapel gallery and Brick Lane.
Lots of good food options nearby but also supermarkets if you want to cook for yourself.
Well enough equipped kitchen, to cook simple meals. And with dishwasher.
Nice big rooms. Good views.
The letting agency were great. Easy to communicate with and quick to resolve any issues. All members of the team we came into contact with were extremely helpful.
Good place to stay for a few nights if you want something in this part of London.
What could be improved: The blinds in the bedroom barely block out any light, I think this is mentioned on previous reviews. It would be good to change them for some blackout blinds.
Due to all the glass (nice views!), it gets warm in the flat. We stayed in July but the weather was terrible and it wasn't at all hot (average 18° and rain) and it was very warm in the flat. I would imagine in hotter weather it could be unpleasantly warm. It would be worth considering installing air con or at least putting freestanding fans in the bedrooms.
We had a problem with the showers. The valves in both showers were shut tight, so we could only get hot water - unfortunately, scalding hot water! However, we contacted the agency, and they sent someone over to fix it the same day.

"Very convenient location ideal for tourists"
Very well connected. Aldhate East tube station right next to hotel. Ample number of buses from departs of London criss-cross here. Many good food joints around. Tesco super market in the same building. Grand view of city
What could be improved: Little noisy when the doors are kept open for fresh air.

"Great Location but requires some improvements"
The location was great, just round the corner from the tube and Tesco.
It was easy to find and access. The concierge also let us store our suitcases whilst we explored and waited for our train on our final day.
What could be improved: There were no bowls for breakfast, the shower was basically like a waterfall due to the head missing pieces and requires replacing.
The apartment was smaller than expected. And photos shown appear to not reflect the apparent but actually 2 separate ones, causing confusion.
Housekeeping came in whilst we were out to drop off towels for the next guests.
Unnecessary amount of information required after booking - Passport, bank statement, proof of transaction (Bank screenshot), arrival flight/ train number. And ID on arrival too.
