First Impressions
Shoreditch London Apartments sits right on Hoxton Square, and honestly, the location couldn’t be more perfect for getting a real feel for East London. This three-star property isn’t trying to be something fancy — it’s more about giving you a proper local experience in one of the city’s most creative neighborhoods. The building itself has that industrial-meets-residential vibe that Shoreditch does so well, and you’ll immediately notice you’re staying somewhere that feels authentically part of the area rather than just dropped into it.
The Neighborhood Pulse
Hoxton Square is actually one of those spots where locals still hang out, which I really appreciate. You’ve got the White Cube gallery literally around the corner, and some brilliant independent coffee shops that haven’t been taken over by chains yet. The square itself hosts a weekend market that’s worth getting up for — proper artisanal stuff, not tourist tat. What I love is that you can walk to Brick Lane in about ten minutes, but you’re also close enough to Old Street station that getting into central London is dead easy.
The Living Space
The apartment I stayed in was surprisingly spacious for London standards — you know how these things usually go. The kitchen actually had everything you’d need for proper cooking, not just a kettle and microwave situation. I mean, the décor isn’t going to win any design awards, but it’s clean and functional with decent wifi throughout. The room had good blackout curtains (essential in this part of town where the nightlife can get a bit lively), and honestly, the bed was more comfortable than I expected for a three-star place.
Practical Matters
There’s no on-site restaurant, but that’s actually brilliant because you’re surrounded by some of London’s best independent eateries. Dishoom is a short walk away if you want proper Bombay-style food, and there are at least three excellent Vietnamese places within two blocks. Parking is tricky — this is East London after all — but the Old Street and Liverpool Street connections mean you really don’t need a car. The staff are helpful with local recommendations, and they actually know the area rather than just reading from a script.
Why Guests Love It
What works here is the authentic Shoreditch experience without paying Shoreditch hotel prices. You’re staying in a proper London neighborhood where actual Londoners live and work, not some sanitized tourist bubble. The apartments give you the freedom to live a bit like a local — grab groceries from the Turkish shop downstairs, make your own breakfast, or just sit in the square with a coffee and watch the creative types heading to their studios. It’s not perfect, but it’s real London in a way that most hotels just can’t offer.
