Room with Shared Kitchen and Living Room in South East London by the Riverside
First Impressions
I’ll be honest — Room with Shared Kitchen and Living Room in South East London by the Riverside isn’t your typical hotel experience, and that’s exactly what makes it interesting. This unique boutique hotel without official star rating sits right along the Thames in North Woolwich, and when I first arrived at Tideslea Path, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The building has this understated residential feel that actually works in its favor — you’re not staying in some corporate chain, you’re getting something more authentic.
The Space Itself
What you’re getting here is essentially a room in a shared living setup, but it’s been thoughtfully designed for travelers. The shared kitchen is actually pretty well-equipped — I mean, you can cook proper meals here, not just reheat leftovers. The living area becomes this casual meeting spot where you might chat with other guests, which honestly reminded me more of staying with friends than a traditional hotel experience. It’s clean, functional, and surprisingly comfortable once you settle in.
Location & Neighborhood
North Woolwich gets overlooked by most tourists, but that riverside location is genuinely nice. You’re literally steps from the Thames, and there’s something peaceful about walking along the water in the evening. The area feels residential and real — you know what I mean? You’ll see locals going about their business, not crowds of tourists snapping photos. Getting into central London takes about 30-40 minutes depending on where you’re headed, but the DLR connections are pretty straightforward once you figure them out.
What Works (and What Doesn’t)
The shared setup isn’t for everyone — if you need total privacy and room service, this probably isn’t your place. But if you’re comfortable with a more communal vibe and want to save some money while staying somewhere with character, it actually works really well. The riverside setting gives you that London experience without the crazy central London prices. I found myself spending more time in the common areas than I expected, which was nice after long days of sightseeing.
Why Guests Love It
This place appeals to travelers who want something different from the standard hotel formula. You’re getting good value for money in a city where accommodation costs can be brutal, plus there’s something refreshing about the no-frills approach. The Thames location means you can take evening walks along the water, and honestly, that’s become one of my favorite London memories. It’s not fancy, but it’s genuine — and sometimes that matters more than thread count or marble bathrooms.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
