Riu Plaza London Victoria
First Impressions
Walking up to Riu Plaza London Victoria, you immediately notice how it sits right in the heart of Westminster β there’s something reassuring about staying this close to Victoria Station without actually being inside the chaos. The building has this modern, sleek look that honestly surprised me a bit, given how much Victorian architecture dominates this part of London. It’s definitely a four-star property that knows what it’s doing.
Location Perks
Here’s what I love about Neathouse Place β you’re literally a three-minute walk from Victoria Station, but the street itself is surprisingly quiet. I mean, you can pop over to Buckingham Palace in about ten minutes on foot, or hop on the Underground and be in Covent Garden before you know it. The Tube connections here are brilliant, actually β Circle, District, and Victoria lines all right there.
The Room Experience
My room was on the eighth floor, and the views over Westminster were pretty decent. The space felt contemporary without being sterile β clean lines, comfortable bed, and a bathroom that actually had proper water pressure (you know how hit-or-miss that can be in London). The air conditioning worked well too, which honestly made a huge difference during my summer stay.
Dining and Amenities
The ground-floor restaurant serves solid international cuisine, though I’ll be honest β I mostly grabbed breakfast there and ventured out for dinner. Speaking of breakfast, it’s a proper buffet setup with both British staples and continental options. There’s also a fitness center that’s well-equipped enough if you need to squeeze in a workout, plus they’ve got parking available (though in central London, I’d really recommend just using public transport).
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it balances accessibility with comfort. You’re staying in Zone 1 without paying those absolutely ridiculous rates you’ll find near Oxford Street or Covent Garden. The staff genuinely seems to care about getting things right, and there’s something to be said for a hotel that doesn’t try to be overly trendy β it just focuses on being a really good place to stay while you explore London.
