Overview
First Impressions
The Richmond Modern Apartment sits quietly on West Sheen Vale, and honestly, you might walk past it if you’re not paying attention. It’s one of those three-star places that doesn’t scream for attention — just a converted Victorian building that’s been thoughtfully updated without losing its character. The entrance feels more like stepping into someone’s well-maintained home than a typical hotel, which I actually found refreshing.
The Apartment Experience
What you’re getting here is essentially a self-contained apartment rather than a standard hotel room, and that makes all the difference. The space includes a proper kitchenette with everything you need — not just a kettle and mini-fridge, but actual cooking facilities. I mean, after a few days of eating out in London, being able to make your own breakfast or grab ingredients from the local Waitrose becomes pretty appealing.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s what I really appreciated about staying in Richmond — you’re far enough from central London to feel like you can actually breathe, but the District Line gets you to Westminster in about 30 minutes. Richmond Park is literally a ten-minute walk away, and if you’ve never experienced that massive green space early in the morning with the deer wandering around, you’re missing out. Plus, the high street has proper shops and cafes, not just tourist traps.
The Details That Matter
The apartment itself is clean and functional, though don’t expect anything too fancy at this price point. The WiFi actually works well (tested it extensively while working from the small desk), and there’s decent parking available if you’re driving. The shower has proper pressure, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong. The bed was comfortable enough, though the walls aren’t the thickest — I could occasionally hear conversations from neighboring units.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to win any design awards, but it gives you something most London accommodations don’t — space and independence at a reasonable rate. You can actually unpack your suitcase, spread out your stuff, and not feel cramped. The fact that there’s a nearby restaurant scene in Richmond means you can eat well without the central London prices, and when you want the full tourist experience, the Tube gets you there easily. It’s the kind of place that works especially well if you’re staying more than just a night or two.

"Pleasant"
Well situated and spacious apartment. The kitchen is well stocked, there are decent beds and the WiFi and hot water work well.
What could be improved: It could be much nicer with some repairs and a deep clean. Feels a bit neglected at the moment.

"Cute flat in a quiet neighborhood"
The apartment is spacious and very cute. The decor is nice and there are places to sit and relax. The location is convenient but does require a 20 min walk. The street is quiet and safe. The beds are comfortable as well.
What could be improved: It is stuffy but the fans helped! The bathroom is quite small. There is a sofa bed but it’s not very comfortable. Our kids opted to share the double bed.

"Great location - definitely recommended."
Excellent location - only a 10 minute walk to Richmond for tube/trains/bars/restaurants etc. Apartment is small but has everything required for a good stay. The owners were attentive and responsive when we had an issue figuring out the central heating. on street parking included in the cost too which is a big bonus for London.
What could be improved: Nothing.

"Lovely stay for Ted lasso and the rugby"
Excellent location being less than 10 mins walk to Richmond train station and 15 mins from Richmond centre. Apartment is perfect for small group and well equipped. Communication and contact was spot on and felt very welcome, especially with the wine, biscuits, tea, coffee, breakfast items and coffee. Will definitely look to revisit.
What could be improved: Hard to find negatives but being really picky Gardens need attention (not that we cared or used them). I'm struggling as great place, location and value

"Comfortable and easily accessible"
Very welcoming, homely, and comfortable. Everything you need on arrival if like us you arrive at dark and in rain. There was no need to rush out to find the shop until morning as the kitchen had everything we needed. It was very much appreciated. Clean, comfortable, and warm. Easily accessible from train station and Sainsbury's just up round the corner. Host attentive and responsive. I really liked staying here.
What could be improved: Front garden overgrown and unsightly, but I'm assuming that's the neighbours and nothing to do with the host as the garden with apartment to the back. However, it did not impact negatively on our stay.

"Pleasant stay, a fair distance from London but with enough to do around as well."
It’s a clean apartment. The beds were comfortable and we had extra bedding for the sofa in the living room (which can easily sleep 2). It’s about 10 min walk from the station and from there it’s a 20-30 train / tube ride to Westminster for example. It’s also fairly close to Windsor castle (about 35-40 min train ride).
We didn’t have enough time but would have liked to visit the Kew Gardens which are 10 min away (walking distance).
We had coffee, some cereal, shower gel and shampoo. We were also able to use the washer and dryer, which came in really handy.
What could be improved: It can seem a bit outdated (the floor, especially, but that could have been done on purpose to preserve “the old look”). The water in the shower gets pretty hot.
