Radisson RED London Greenwich The O2
First Impressions
You can’t miss Radisson RED London Greenwich The O2 when you’re walking around Greenwich — it’s this bold, modern tower that actually fits perfectly with The O2’s futuristic vibe next door. I mean, when I first saw it, I thought it might be a bit too flashy, but honestly, it works. The lobby has this industrial-chic thing going on with exposed concrete and pops of bright red everywhere, which is very much the RED brand’s signature style.
Location & The O2 Connection
Here’s the thing about staying here — you’re literally a two-minute walk from The O2, which is brilliant if you’re catching a show or event. But what I really loved is that you’re also perfectly positioned to explore proper Greenwich. The Cutty Sark is just across the river via the foot tunnel (which is actually kind of cool to walk through), and you can easily get to the Royal Observatory and Greenwich Park. The transport links are solid too — North Greenwich tube station connects you to central London in about 20 minutes.
The Room Experience
My room was on the 12th floor with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Thames, and honestly, the view made the whole stay worthwhile. The design is quite striking — lots of red accents against neutral tones, and everything feels fresh and contemporary. The bed was comfortable enough, though I found the pillows a bit soft for my liking. What impressed me was how well-thought-out the space was, with plenty of USB ports and good lighting for actually getting work done.
Dining & Social Spaces
The restaurant and bar area on the ground floor has this buzzy atmosphere that spills out onto the terrace when the weather’s decent. I grabbed dinner there one evening — the menu’s not groundbreaking, but it’s well-executed modern British fare with some international touches. The cocktails are where they really shine though, and you know what, the staff seemed genuinely enthusiastic about what they were making. Breakfast was pretty standard hotel buffet stuff, but the coffee was actually good, which matters more than you’d think.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this four-star hotel isn’t trying to be the fanciest place in London, but it does what it does really well. The combination of being steps from The O2 while still having easy access to historic Greenwich is pretty unique. The building itself might divide opinion — some people love the bold architecture, others find it a bit much — but you can’t argue with the Thames views and the energy of the place. If you’re here for an event at The O2 or want to explore Greenwich without the Central London price tag, it’s actually a smart choice.
To book a hotel in London during opera season, visitors plan ahead to balance Royal Opera House nights with quiet Regent’s Canal strolls.
