Oliver Plaza Hotel
First Impressions
Walking up to Oliver Plaza Hotel on Trebovir Road, you immediately notice it’s not trying too hard — and that’s exactly what works about it. The Victorian townhouse facade blends seamlessly with the rest of the Earls Court streetscape, but step inside and there’s a polished, modern feel that tells you this four-star property knows what it’s doing. The lobby’s compact but thoughtfully designed, with warm lighting that makes you feel settled rather than rushed.
Location & Neighborhood
Earls Court gets unfairly overlooked, but honestly, it’s one of London‘s better-kept secrets for visitors. You’re a five-minute walk from Earl’s Court tube station, which puts you on both the District and Piccadilly lines — meaning you can reach Covent Garden in about 15 minutes or catch the Piccadilly directly to Heathrow. The neighborhood has this lovely residential feel during the day, with proper local cafés and that little Tesco Express that becomes your best friend when you need late-night snacks.
The Room Experience
My room was on the third floor, and while it wasn’t huge (this is London, after all), every inch felt purposeful. The bed was genuinely comfortable — not just hotel-speak comfortable — and the shower had proper water pressure, which you can’t take for granted in converted Victorian buildings. What I appreciated most was the attention to lighting: there were enough lamps and switches that you could actually read in bed without squinting or flooding the whole space with harsh overhead light.
Dining & Amenities
The hotel restaurant serves a solid breakfast that goes beyond the typical continental spread — proper bacon, decent coffee, and they’ll make you a fresh omelet if you ask nicely. There’s no gym or spa on-site, but Earl’s Court Gardens is literally around the corner for morning runs, and the area has several good pubs within walking distance. The 24-hour front desk staff actually seem to know the neighborhood well, which makes a difference when you need directions or restaurant recommendations.
Why Guests Love It
What sets Oliver Plaza apart is that it doesn’t oversell itself — it just delivers consistently on the basics that matter. The Wi-Fi works throughout the building, the air conditioning actually cools the room, and checkout doesn’t involve standing in line for twenty minutes. You know what? Sometimes that’s exactly what you want from a London hotel. It’s the kind of place where business travelers become regulars and tourists leave feeling like they discovered something off the beaten path, even though they were perfectly positioned to see everything the city offers.
