Notting Hill – The One One One -2-
First Impressions
Notting Hill – The One One One -2- sits on Ladbroke Grove in a gorgeous Victorian townhouse that honestly caught me off guard. I mean, you walk up to number 111 and there’s this elegant white facade that feels both grand and welcoming — not stuffy like some places in London can be. The entrance has this lovely restored period detail that immediately tells you this four-star property takes its heritage seriously.
Location & Neighborhood
The location is actually brilliant if you know this part of west London. You’re right in the heart of Notting Hill but on a quieter stretch of Ladbroke Grove, away from the tourist crowds around Portobello Market. There’s a great little café called Gail’s just down the road, and honestly, the antique shops along this stretch are some of the best-kept secrets in the area. The tube station is a proper five-minute walk — not one of those “five minutes” that hotels claim but actually means fifteen.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was on the second floor, and well, it had that perfect balance of period charm and modern comfort. The ceilings are high with original cornicing, but they’ve fitted everything out with contemporary touches that actually work. The bed was ridiculously comfortable, and there’s this lovely bay window that looks out over the tree-lined street. What I really appreciated was the attention to detail — proper thick towels, decent water pressure, and a kitchenette that’s actually functional rather than just for show.
Service & Atmosphere
The staff here genuinely seem to care about what they’re doing, which you notice in small ways throughout your stay. They remember your name, offer local recommendations that aren’t just the obvious tourist spots, and there’s this relaxed professionalism that feels very London in the best way. The building itself has been beautifully restored — you can tell they’ve spent proper money on getting the period features right while making sure everything works perfectly for modern travelers.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it captures the essence of Notting Hill without feeling like a theme park version of it. You’re staying in a real London neighborhood where actual Londoners live and work, but with all the comfort and service you’d expect from a quality hotel. The combination of that stunning Victorian architecture, the genuinely useful location, and staff who know their stuff creates something pretty special. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re experiencing authentic London rather than just visiting it.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
