Notting Hill – The One One One! -6-
First Impressions
Notting Hill – The One One One! -6- sits right on Ladbroke Grove, and honestly, the name pretty much tells you everything — it’s at 111, hence “The One One One.” I know, not the most creative branding, but you’ll remember it. This four-star property has that slightly quirky London vibe going for it, tucked into a Victorian building that’s been given a modern makeover without losing its character.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s what I actually love about this spot — you’re in proper London without being stuck in touristy central areas. Ladbroke Grove station is basically on your doorstep, which means you can hop on the Hammersmith & City line and be at Paddington in about 10 minutes. The neighborhood has this lived-in feeling where you’ll see actual Londoners going about their day, not just people with cameras around their necks.
Portobello Road is maybe a 10-minute walk, and I mean the good bit with all the antique shops and that famous market on Saturdays. But you know what’s better? The little cafés and pubs scattered around here that most visitors never find because they’re too busy following their guidebooks.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was compact — this is London, after all — but thoughtfully laid out. They’ve managed to squeeze in everything you need without making it feel cramped, which is honestly impressive given the building’s age. The décor leans modern with some nice touches, though nothing that’ll blow your mind. What I appreciated was the attention to practical details: good lighting for reading, decent shower pressure, and windows that actually open properly.
Amenities & Practical Stuff
There’s no on-site restaurant, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing in this neighborhood — you’ve got proper options within a few minutes’ walk. The staff seems to know their local area well, which comes in handy when you want recommendations that aren’t just the obvious tourist spots. They’ve got the basics covered: decent Wi-Fi, 24-hour reception, and they’re pretty accommodating with luggage storage if you arrive early or need to leave bags after checkout.
Parking is street parking only, so if you’re driving, factor that in — though honestly, I can’t imagine why you’d want to drive in this part of London when the transport links are this good.
Why Guests Love It
What makes this place work is the balance it strikes. You’re getting that authentic London residential experience without sacrificing convenience or comfort. It’s the kind of spot where you feel like you’re staying in a neighborhood rather than just passing through. The 8.4 rating makes sense — it’s not trying to be fancy, but it does the important stuff well. Plus, when you tell people you stayed in Notting Hill, it sounds much more interesting than saying you were stuck in some generic hotel district.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
