Notting Hill – The One One One! -4-
First Impressions
Notting Hill – The One One One! -4- sits right on Ladbroke Grove, and honestly, the name pretty much tells you everything you need to know — it’s at 111, and they’re clearly having fun with it. This four-star spot feels refreshingly unpretentious for this part of London, which I actually appreciated after staying at some overly serious places around Kensington. The building itself has that classic West London charm without trying too hard to impress you.
Location & Getting Around
You know what’s great about this location? You’re literally a two-minute walk from Ladbroke Grove tube station, which means you can get to central London without the usual Notting Hill tourist chaos. I mean, you’re close enough to Portobello Road if you want that whole market experience, but far enough away that you won’t be dealing with crowds outside your door every morning. The area feels properly residential — there’s a Tesco Express right around the corner, and some decent coffee shops that locals actually use.
The Room Experience
My room was smaller than I expected (this is London, after all), but it was thoughtfully laid out. Everything felt modern and clean, with good lighting that didn’t make me look terrible in the bathroom mirror — always a win. The bed was actually comfortable, and the shower had proper water pressure, which honestly surprised me given the building’s age. There’s decent storage space too, though you’ll want to pack light if you’re the type who brings half your wardrobe.
Amenities & Practicalities
The hotel keeps things simple but gets the basics right. There’s no fancy spa or elaborate restaurant, but they do have a decent breakfast setup that’ll get you going without breaking the bank. WiFi works properly throughout the building — I tested it from the top floor and had no issues working from the room. Parking isn’t included, but honestly, you don’t need a car in this part of town anyway.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it doesn’t overcomplicate things. You get a solid base in a great part of London without paying Notting Hill Gate prices. The staff seem to actually care about sorting out any issues quickly, and the whole operation feels well-run rather than chaotic. It’s the kind of place where you can settle in for a few days and feel like you’re staying somewhere that makes sense — not just passing through a generic hotel that could be anywhere.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
