Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Morton Hotel on Woburn Place, you get that immediate sense this is one of those proper London townhouse hotels that somehow manages to feel both grand and approachable. The Georgian facade blends seamlessly with the surrounding Bloomsbury architecture, and honestly, if you didn’t know to look for it, you might walk right past — which is actually part of its charm. This four-star property doesn’t need to shout about itself because it’s confident in what it offers.
Location & Neighborhood
You’re planted right in the heart of Bloomsbury here, which means you’re basically surrounded by literary history and those lovely garden squares that make London feel like a village sometimes. Russell Square tube station is literally a three-minute walk away, and you know what? That makes all the difference when you’re hauling luggage or trying to get to Heathrow early in the morning. The British Museum is close enough that you could pop over for an hour without making it a whole expedition.
The Room Experience
The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully modern — they’ve clearly been updated recently but kept that classic London hotel feel that actually works. My room had this great view over the quiet street, and the bed was one of those where you sink in just enough without feeling like you’re being swallowed. The bathroom was compact but well-designed, with a proper shower that had decent pressure — trust me, that’s not always a given in London hotels.
Dining & Amenities
The ground floor restaurant serves up solid modern British fare, though I’ll be honest — with Borough Market and all the incredible spots around King’s Cross just a short tube ride away, you might find yourself eating out more than in. What I really appreciated was the 24-hour front desk staff who actually knew their stuff about the neighborhood. They pointed me toward this fantastic gastropub around the corner that I never would’ve found otherwise.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s the thing about Morton Hotel — it gets the balance right between being professional and being personal. The staff remembers your name, the location puts you in the thick of things without the tourist chaos, and everything just works the way it should. It’s the kind of place where business travelers feel comfortable, but couples on a weekend break don’t feel out of place either. With an 8.8 rating, it’s clearly doing something right, and after staying there, I can see why people keep coming back.

"I’ll come again"
Charming. Unpretentious but attention to detail and incredibly pleasant furnishings particularly in the library bar. Friendly helpful staff.

"Quality hotel and great location."
Great location, friendly staff, good sized room, large (king) comfy bed, excellent walk in shower, toiletries and large fluffy towels, fridge with small bottle of fresh milk for tea. 15-20 min walk to theatres, underground station very close. Lots of restaurant options close by. Next to Fitzroy hotel.
What could be improved: Constant voices from nearby cafe continued well into the night (room 25). Breakfast very limited, think Pret A Manger better choice and price.

"Very good in general I would definitely stay in this place again."
Super clean, quite, comfy, great staff and the location was perfect literally next to everything.
What could be improved: Maybe the soundproofing isn't good enough. Sometimes we could hear the room next to us just like they're in ours.
Although everything in the room was good and organic, but maybe they could add some stuff like a scale and a shoe stick.

"Another great stay at the Morton"
I have stayed here several times and will return every trip to London. The hotel is extremely well located on Russell Square in Bloomsbury, and is on the Picadilly Line. The rooms are large and quiet, wifi works well. The staff go overboard to make you feel comfortable. A lovely breakfast is served in the basement, with great coffee. Everything is first rate

"Friendly and efficient hotel"
Wonderful location, close to many things but not in the middle of the busy areas.
Very helpful staff.
Everything worked.
What could be improved: There was no option to book rooms facing the street. That would have been better for us.
