Overview

First Impressions

Walking down Lovat Lane in the City of London, you might almost miss Monument Serviced Apartments by LovelyStay if you’re not paying attention. It’s tucked away on this narrow street that feels more residential than commercial, which honestly makes it feel like a bit of a discovery. The building itself has that classic London character — you know, the kind that doesn’t scream “tourist accommodation” from the street.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I really appreciated about staying here: you’re literally in the heart of the financial district, but it doesn’t feel stuffy or overly corporate. Monument station is just around the corner — I mean, it’s practically named after the area — and you can walk to London Bridge in about five minutes. The thing is, London Bridge Market is right there, so you’re not stuck with overpriced City lunch spots if you don’t want to be.

The Apartment Experience

This four-star place gets the serviced apartment concept right. Each unit has a proper kitchen with everything you’d actually need — not just a sad mini-fridge and kettle situation. The room layouts vary, but mine had this nice separation between the sleeping area and living space that made it feel like an actual home rather than a hotel suite. Storage space was surprisingly generous too, which matters when you’re staying more than a couple nights.

Practical Details That Matter

The Wi-Fi actually works properly (I was working remotely part of the time), and the weekly housekeeping service strikes the right balance — not too intrusive but keeps things fresh. There’s no on-site restaurant, but honestly, with Borough Market so close and a functional kitchen, that wasn’t an issue for me. Parking isn’t included, but let’s be real — you don’t want to drive in this part of London anyway.

Why Guests Love It

The 9.1 rating makes sense when you experience it firsthand. Monument Serviced Apartments manages to feel both professional and homey, which isn’t easy to pull off. It’s the kind of place where business travelers can settle in for a week without feeling like they’re camping out in a hotel room, and tourists get that “living in London” experience without the hassle of a proper rental. The staff are helpful without being overbearing, and the whole setup just works without any unnecessary fuss.

"Nice but VERY noisy"
Perfect location if you work in the city
What could be improved: Windows are extremely poorly insulated and there are pubs downstairs: it can be VERY VERY loud. If you stay here, you will need very good earplugs at night. Freezing air comes through the windows too.

"Met my needs and my communications with Monument were seamless. It made it more enjoyable."
Location. Access to the city was easy.
What could be improved: Door codes were fiddly but not to the extent that it was an issue. More to do with my poor memory.🥴

"Good time here"
Comfortable, cozy and spacious apartments in a perfect location. Very convenient accessibility, close to buses and metro lines. Few supermarkets and plenty of pubs, restaurants just around the corner. Amazing views of modern and old London around, Monument alone is worth it. Our room was on the Ground floor, unfortunately, 2/3 of the window was covered, a pity because we wanted more of a view. Also, the windows did not open, but the ventilation system worked perfectly. It was quite due to the installed second windows. We did not cook, but that would have been complicated, because there is no air extraction above the oven. It was nice to start the day and come back after an interesting day.

"Spacious, well located, gorgeous."
Very well situated, spacious and clean flat. Had everything you could possibly need, from an iron and iron board to get you tidy for work, to a cork screw from when you're back after a long day. I really enjoyed it! Easy to enter, no fuss with the check in, just great!
What could be improved: Honestly it was perfect, if it could improve it would be if they had a surface where you can lay your suitcase more comfortably. I didn't want to use the sofa or bed for this for hygienic reasons.

"Great location and cozy stay"
The apartment is in a very good area, with excellent cafés nearby, and just a short walk away you’ll find a lovely path leading to Tower Bridge. I appreciated that the kitchenette had everything we needed and that the place was spotlessly clean. No complaints about the bedding or other amenities. There’s also an iron and a TV with lots of channels – overall, it was quite comfortable.
What could be improved: There was occasional loud music from the bar next door (we stayed for 6 nights). It didn’t bother us too much, but if you’re traveling for work and need to focus, it might be distracting. From the photos, I expected the room to be bigger – it would be impossible to fit three or four people in there comfortably. For two, it was just right, but everything is quite packed in. Another point to note is that the room is quite dark. So if you plan to work there and not just sleep, the lack of natural light isn’t ideal, especially for the price. Also, the street itself isn’t accessible by car, so in bad weather you might need to walk a bit to reach your taxi (depending on how clever your driver is with directions). Overall, I feel the room is quite small for the price, but I didn’t encounter any major issues, so I’d rate it as great for London.

"Very good"
Location is convenient, very comfortable apartment. Very well equipped. Very quiet building.
What could be improved: Not having a luggage storage option between check-out and your flight/train out of London is slightly annoying. A wider bed would have made the room even more comfortable.

"It was an amazing stay. Clean, quiet with all facilities. Would book again."
It was well organized. Very clean. Liked the design. Quiet area and studio. Nearby the metro and buses.
What could be improved: The AC was too cold, in the end I just turned it off.
