Modern one bedroom in Fitzrovia, Central London
First Impressions
When I first walked up to Modern one bedroom in Fitzrovia, Central London on Cleveland Street, I’ll be honest — it doesn’t look like much from the outside. But that’s actually part of its charm. You’re staying in a proper Georgian building that’s been thoughtfully converted, and the entrance has this understated elegance that feels very London.
Location & Neighborhood
Fitzrovia is one of those neighborhoods that locals love but tourists often miss, and that’s exactly why this spot works so well. You’re literally a three-minute walk from Goodge Street tube station, which means you can be anywhere in central London without the chaos of staying right in the thick of it. The BBC is just around the corner, Charlotte Street (with all its excellent restaurants) is a stone’s throw away, and you can walk to Oxford Street in about five minutes when you need to.
The Apartment
This four-star apartment actually feels more like staying in a friend’s well-designed flat than a typical hotel. The room has these lovely high ceilings — you know, the kind you get in these old London buildings — and the whole space has been done up with modern furnishings that don’t try too hard. The kitchen is compact but genuinely functional, which matters if you’re staying more than a couple nights and want to grab groceries from the Sainsbury’s down the street.
What Makes It Work
The thing about this place is that it strikes this perfect balance between hotel service and apartment living. You get your own space, your own front door key, but there’s still proper support when you need it. The bed is actually comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathroom has one of those rainfall showers that makes you linger longer than you should. Plus, there’s decent Wi-Fi throughout, which shouldn’t be remarkable but honestly still is in some London accommodations.
Why Guests Love It
What really sells this place is the freedom it gives you. You can come and go as you please, cook breakfast if you want, or just grab coffee from the brilliant little place two doors down. The 8.8 rating makes sense when you consider that you’re getting genuine London living in a neighborhood that feels authentic rather than touristy. It’s not flashy or trying to impress anyone — it’s just a really solid base for exploring the city, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
Locals suggest to book apartments in London around South Bank for riverside dining, market stops, and easy city crossings.
